Negitive wire on stater

I just put a new starter in my ford explorer it started great the fist time then i started it up againit made a weird noise but it went away after a sec. i took it down to the gas station to get gas and it made that noise again so i turned it off tried to start it again it was like just a click like it was shot not to say that when i was putting it in the negitive wire was split and had been spliced together it came apart when i was putting it in so i had to rig it together. is there a way i can make it stay professionallly?

I WOULD PUT A NEW WIRE IN OR AT LEAST GO GET A SPLIT LUG CONNECTOR IT IS ABOLT WITH THE CENTER CUT OUT LENGTHWISE YOU PLACE THE ENDS OF YOUR OLD WIRE AND THE NEW WIRE OR EXTENTION IN THE CUT OUT THREAD THE NUT ON TO IT AND TIGHTEN HOME DEPOT OR LOWES ASK SOME ONE THEY HAVE THEM BUT IT IS ABOUT THE BEST SPLICE YOU CAN DO THEN WRAP A WHOLE ROLE OF ELECTRICAL TAPE AROUND IT

1991 f 250 when starting during cold weather starter sticks to the run postion and ignition i can turn back and forth and truck will not shut off until starter burns out

IT sounds to me like the solenoid is sticking. Follow the large wire up from where it bolts onto stater and the next thing that wire is bolted to is the solenoid.

I went out to start my 2002 Oldsmobile Alero and it wouldn't start heard a gurgling noise then saw a little smoke coming from under the hood. I opened the hood to check my oil thinking maybe it was low...

usally smoke indicates a burned wire form too much resistance. you may need to replace both the positive and negitive battery cables with a new starter.
replace those and go from there try to turn the engine by hand. hopefully it is not locked up .if it would not turn the stater may have drawn too many amps and burned your wires.

Car won't start. 1994 Ford Explorer. Clicking noise from engine when ignition is turned. Battery is good. Relays swapped out with a brand new one, but still not starting. Vehicle went from starting fine in...

Check the starter,to see if it is the problem, and clean the cables to the battery, where then connect, and clean the battery post also, clean them to where the cables, and the post shine,so there is no grey,or black on them, this acts as an insulator, and will not let the starter get enough voltage. To check the starter, after cleaning cables and battery post, have someone turn the key to start the engine while you tap on the starter with a hammer lightly,if it starts, then the stater is bad.If this was at all helpful, please rate, thank you.

1989 ford ranger does not start

fist let me ask you is it turning over fast enough? a lot of the time its that the starter isnt getting enough power take a pair of jumper cables form the positive on the batery and hook it up to the main on the starter that will let you know if its the problem if it is you can run an aditional wire or a new one.
