The knock sensor on V6 models are threaded into tranny mounting flange just below the oil pressure sending unit. On V8 models it is under the Intake Manifold.

SOURCE: knock sensor location

The knock Sensors are located under the Intake Manifold at the top of your engine. The top will have to be taken off along with the intake manifold. Knock Sensors in past silverados used to have a problem with leaking water that corroded the sensors from washing the engine. Most times when you go to replace the knock sensor you will have to replace both along with the wiring harness that includes the the gaskets the knock sensors are surrounded by. After that you have to check the resistance to make sure you dont have any problems and then reinstall all parts along with a new intake manifold gasket. A good mechanic can do this for you in a day and charge you around $400. If you try to go to some place like a chevy dealer you will pay over $800. This is from experience of just replacing mine 2 weeks ago.

2000 silverado knock sensor issue

I think it not real probable that the cause of your knock sensor code is the result of bad gas. However, I suppose it IS possible. Most knock sensor codes are caused by engine mechanical problems like bad pully bearings, loose timing chains, broken valve springs, collapsed valve lifters, etc. that would cause a "knocking" or "tapping" in the engine.

The next most probable cause would be damaged knock sensor wiring. I have fixed many that have had damage from rodents getting into the engine compartment and chewing on the wires. Depending on which engine your Silverado is equipped with, the knock sensor could be mounted between the cylinder heads in the valley under the intake manifold. Mice like it under there.

Then again, it all depends on WHAT KIND of knock sensor code you are getting. For 2000 Silverado there are 3 possible knock sensor codes: P0325, P0327, P0332. The diagnostics (and possible causes) change depending on which code you have.

2000 chevy silverado 5.3, skips a little between 50-55mph, plugs and wires were changed. scanner shows bad knock sensor #2. will changing this correct the problem?

it should but recheck ur wires and plugs first a bad plug or wire can cause a knock ping problem and set off sensor also check the knock sensor connections at rear of engine----- the knock sensors for the 8 cyl are located under the intake manifold so its labor intensive to replace the sensor

Where is the knock sensor 2 (bank 2) located on a 2000 chevy silverado 5.3? Can you send me a diagram?

I don't have a diagram but they are under your intake manifold. It's not to bad of a job. You don't have to remove the fuel rails or the injectors, they can come up with the intake. The #2 knock sensor is the one in the rear. I will suggest getting both of them and also the harness and do it all while you have it apart. I believe you will find that water has gotten down in the hole where the knock sensors are located. Make sure to clean it out very good with compressed air before you install your new knock sensors.

Where is the knock sensor located in 2000 chevy 5.3 v-8?

They are located below the intake manifold, you may have to remove the intake to change them. The sensors may be shot, they have a problem with water puddling in their mounting wells, after changing, seal the sensors with an RTV to keep water out of the wells

The Knock Sensor (KS) system detects engine pre-detonation. The Powertrain Control Module (PCM) retards the spark timing based on the signals from the knock sensors. The knock sensors produce an AC voltage when specific frequencies are detected. The knock sensor voltages are an input to the PCM. The amount of AC voltage produced is proportional to the intensity of the knock.
When you ****** timing fuel mileage goes down.
