If your vehicle is not overheating then you have a temp sensor problem. Replace it and your problem should be fixed.

The reservoir is actually an expansion tank. Don't forget the anti-freeze! It not only protects the system from freezing, but keeps the water clean and sweet.

you keep filling the radiator until the thermostat fully open and the bubbles stop. Stop the engine, replace the radiator cap and then fill the reservoir to the line. There are videos 'burping a coolant system'.

How to I get the, "low coolant", light to turn off on my 2001 Chevy lumina

have the coolant sensor checked and check the wire to it
they work by having a continuous power supply through the sensor through the coolant to earth to keep the light off
any break in that wire of sensor results as a low coolant because the power can no longer earth out and so the light comes on

What is the correct way to fill the radiator of a chevrolet venture The low coolant light came on then started flashing but the radiator is full of water but has no anti freeze is this the problem

Hi there!
First.- with the engine off and cool, put a flush and drain radiator cleaner run the engine for 10 minutes, turn it off, let it cool down.
Once the engine is not too hot, open the lowest hose of radiator while you put water in the main mouth of radiator.
Once you see the water flushing clear, put the hose back and then fill it with special GM antifreeze, (the one is orange color) put all gallon into it and the rest of water, LOOK FOR THE ONE YOU CAN ADD WATER, THAT'S THE BEST FOR YOUR VAN... Good Luck!

Anything special i need to know when changing my anti-freeze. this is my first time, trying to save money. someone said something about getting the air out? what does that mean?

drain the coolant, connect or close all hoses and drain plugs, start motor and fill radiator with a 50/50 mix of water and anti-freeze, leave engine running, when motor gets hot the thermostat will open allowing the coolant to flow through the motor, in change the anti-freeze will get lower in the radiator thus you continue to fill untill full and the radiator will not except more coolant, ( this is how you get the air out) replace radiator cap and fill reservoir to cold level and your done. Recheck your coolant reservoir after you have driven the vehicle a bit and fill if necessary, do not fill to top, only fill to cool mark. the reservoir is not under pressure so you can fill at any time motor hot or cold

I just changed the radiator. How much antifreeze do I put in?

put a 50/50 mix. remove radiator cap when cold, start car let run 1 min and dump 50/50 mix till full, a little will come out cap when thermostat opens this is normal, when thermostat opens coolant will go down, continue to fill till full, put cap on and fill reservoir to cold mark, check reservoir after you run a day and fill if needed to the full cold mark again

I don't have the owner's manual. The reservoir says ''Engine Coolant'' and it is empty; engine overheating. Is there a special fluid to use or can I just use plain water? Thanks

U need to use 50/50 mixture of long life/extendedlife coolant availible from any automotive parts store for around $8 per gallon. but you must have a leak, check for coolant leaking when the car is running, don't overheat this engine or u will blow the cylinder head gasket, a $1000.00 repair.
