Question about 1997 Nissan Maxima

1 Answer

Accelerating/Transmission I have a 1997 Nissan Maxima. When I start accelerating from rest or under 20 mph it seems as if the 1st gear gets stuck and the rpm's shoot way up and keeps going up as if I was flooring it even though I am going like 30 mph. What is wrong?

Check the transmission fluid.make sure the car is at operating temperature and in park.go to parts store and buy transmission filter kit. automatic transmission works on fluid pressure if it is restricted the tramsmission won't shift right.the fluid and filter are to b changed usually between 40 to 50k miles

Maxima wont come out of 1st gear

Is it automatic or manual? And you have to pull the transmission pan not the motor oil pan. I'm not saying you did, but just letting you know. Tell me if you find anything. Mike.

1995 Explorer conversion van won't accelerate

Sounds like you have a transmission problem, could be the valve body, or a bad band. I would check the fluid first it could be low. Just make sure the engine is warm, and the van is in park, then check the fluid.

Sounds like a burst of Air when changing gears???? and Wurrrrrrr when accelerating???

first thing you need to do rule out vacuum to shifting module make sure there is no leaks you usually can detect by a hissing sound or high pitch whistle check your shifting module on your transmission providing transmission screen and filter has been maintained as for the second part gm powersteering pumps have a tendency to whir if a new belt has been installed until it breaks in
