On for 10 seconds, off for 5, then maybe on for 30 seconds, off another 10-20 seconds, on again for a minute then off again for 30 seconds on for 10 seconds etc. It's not normal. It just starting doing it. I realize the A/C isn't supposed to be on continuously, but it shouldn't cut off and on intermittently like that in such a short time span.

On a Fixed Orfice Tube system (FOT) the compressor cycles on and off because there is no other way to regulate the refrigerant. On a Thermal Expansion Valve system (which is what Nissan uses) the compressor stay on because the expansion valve regulates the refrigerant. It is not normal for your compressor to cycle on and off. Check your refrigerant level.

Air conditioning not turning off

This is due to the fact that the solenoid relay is stuck and so the ac is not cutting off. You need to open the hood and check after starting the car. If the fan is cut , does the ac cut off, if not the relay or the solenoid of the compressor must be checked.

Idling goes up and down

If the air conditioning is on, then the engines idle will increase when the air conditioning compressor cuts in, and slow down again when the a/c compressor cuts out again.
If your model has a heat switch, if this is on, then the engine will idle faster, until the engine temperature reaches about 50 deg C, then as the glow rail switches off, the idle also drops back to normal.

Why is the ac air conditioning not cooling

Could be low on freon, could be a bad compressor, could be a bad expansion valve, could be..... Get it checked out to find out for sure.

Hey

Most times when you have a cut in power when the RPM's are high that's most likely a "SPARK" problem. However it can also be a "GAS " problem. Does check engine light come ON if it is or even if it NOT ON there can still be a Code stores in your computer. My first thing would be a BAD CRANK sensor/CAM sensor. This is my recommendations you should have this vehicle place on a code scanner/computer AUTO-ZONE does this check for free then get the codes if any is present and get back to me asap. I strongly thing it would be a crank sensor but if not there is a 20% chance its a FUEL PUMP can meet the demand when you hit the gas therefore then engine starves and dies. LEt me know how you made out. Good Luck and Thanks for using FIX YA
