No, because it will just tell emissions computer that your truck is not ready for test. They do make sensor eliminators that go in between the plug and what it plugs into and it fools emissions computer into thinking everything is working fine. they are about 60.00 each on ebay. its what I used for my Mustang GT when I cut out my cats.

Does your Grand Marquis have head lamps with auto lamps ? Which fuse keeps blowing ? Could be a shorted LCM - lighting control module ?

Lighting Control Module (LCM)
The LCM eliminates the electronic interference and heat associated with the thermoelectric devices used previously. The LCM is a microprocessor-based module that controls several vehicle subsystems. It responds to electrical input signals from various switches, sensors, and external modules..

I have a 2001 mercury sable wagon when i open the door the light comes on but goes off and beeps when the door is fully opened

Lamps, Courtesy The interior courtesy lamps are controlled by the generic electronic module (GEM) and are activated by the interior lamp relay. The interior lamp relay coil is grounded by the GEM when:
  • a door is opened.
  • illuminated entry is requested from remote anti-theft personality module.
The courtesy lamps will turn off if:
  • ignition switch is turned to RUN.
  • illuminated entry off request is received from remote anti-theft personality module or after 25-seconds.

  1. If the inspection reveals an obvious concern that is readily serviced, correct the concern before continuing with Inspection and Verification.
  1. If a concern remains after the inspection, connect Rotunda New Generation Star (NGS) tester 007-00500 or equivalent to the data link connector (DLC) located beneath the instrument panel to perform the Data Link Diagnostics Test. If the NGS responds with NO RESPONSE/NOT EQUIPPED for the Generic Electronic Module (GEM), GO to Pinpoint Test AD . If the Data Link Diagnostic test is passed for the Generic Electronic Module (GEM), retrieve continuous DTCs and execute self test diagnostics for the GEM.
  1. If self test is passed and no DTCs are retrieved, go to the Symptom Chart to continue diagnostics.
  1. If DTCs are retrieved, go to the Generic Electronic Module (GEM) Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) Index to continue diagnostics.
  1. If the Generic Electronic Module (GEM) cannot be accessed by the NGS tester, go to Pinpoint Test AD .
Rotunda Service Bay Diagnostic System (SBDS®) 001-00001 may also be used to diagnose this system.

4x4 don't work no indicator light on dash

Did you check for codes in GEM module ?
Many system components are involved in the proper operation of the ESOF hubs. Before diagnosing the hublocks themselves as the cause of 4X4 concerns, be sure to verify all related system components.
After removing the hublock retaining ring be sure not to use tools other than hands or "grip" gloves to remove the hublock, as damage may occur to either the paint or the function of the hublock. Pliers or locking Channel-Locks® should be considered as a last resort, and will usually damage the hublock, making it necessary to install a new hublock.

Inspection and Verification - Electronic Shift
  1. Visually inspect for the following obvious signs of mechanical and electrical damage.

Visual Inspection Chart Mechanical Electrical
  • Hublocks
    • installed
    • correct type
  • Axle shafts and universal joints
  • Driveshaft and universal joints
  • Shift linkage
  • Fluid leaks
  • Matching tire size
  • Vacuum harness
  • Central junction box (CJB) fuse 59 (30A)
  • Central junction box (CJB) fuse 27 (15A), 34 (10A)
  • 4WD control module
  • Pulse vacuum hublock (PVH) solenoid
  • Wiring harness
  • Mode select switch (MSS)
  • Gearmotor encoder assembly
  • Connector(s)
  • Shift relays
  • Circuitry

  1. If the concern remains after the inspection, connect the diagnostic tool to the data link connector (DLC) located beneath the instrument panel and select the vehicle to be tested from the diagnostic tool menu. If the diagnostic tool does not communicate with the vehicle:
    • check that the program card is correctly installed.
    • check the connections to the vehicle.
    • check the ignition switch position.
  1. If the diagnostic tool still does not communicate with the vehicle, refer to the diagnostic tool manual.
  1. Carry out the DATA LINK DIAGNOSTICS test. If the diagnostic tool responds with:
    • CKT914, CKT915 or CKT70 = ALL ECUS NO RESP/NOT EQUIP, refer to Section 418-00 .
    • NO RESP/NOT EQUIP for 4WD control module, Go To Pinpoint Test D .
    • NOTE: To carry out the 4WD control module self-test for Excursion requires the headlamps to be in the OFF position. All others require the headlamps to be in the ON position. SYSTEM PASSED, retrieve and record the continuous diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs), erase the continuous DTCs and carry out the 4WD control module self-test.
  1. If the DTCs retrieved are related to the concern, go to the 4WD control module Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) Index to continue diagnostics.
  1. If no DTCs related to the concern are retrieved, carry out the electronic shift function test. Refer to Function Test - Electronic Shift in this section.

Code p0-601 2001 dodge caravan

Hi Jeannine, I'm glad to help! Unfortunately the Code P0601 is an Internal fault with the PCM and the only way to get it to pass emissions is to replace the Powertrain Control Module. After it is replaced you will need to drive the vehicle to reset all the monitors before it will pass inspection. Hope this helps and have an awesome day Jeannine.

ABS light stays on

Hello
Whenever the ABS warning light comes on in the instrument cluster and it stays on it means the systems electronic control module (computer) has detected a problem in one or more of the inputs to the module, an ABS fault code is present as long as the ABS light is on. So what must be done to correct this? You must have the ABS electronic control module scanned with a special tool to read the fault code, then a trained technicain will diagnose and repair the defective part or wiring. Most times this is a wheel speed sensor (one for each wheel) that gives an erratic signal. While the light is on all you have is regular non-ABS brakes.

For a smog inspection you can still pass if your air bag light is on. Its the check engine light that will fail you

On board display says fuse 10 failed. fuse looks good. Replaced with another and it still says that. Thanks for any help! Gerald

I believe fuse 10 is on the side of the passenger seat behind the inspection panel when you open the door (part of the BECM - body electronic control module)
If you remove the panel, you can read the fuse numbers and replace fuse 10. Probably the cigar lighter.
Good luck

Airbag light problem, wouldn't pass inspection

Ok I did a little more searching and researching. The reason you don't have a light is because it is a mechanical airbag. I remember this system. There is no electrical wiring or control module or dash lights. Take it back to the inspector and make him aware of it and it should pass.

Cheaply replace steering wheel w/out airbag module

Lisa,

I don't know what state you are in... but in Massachusetts your truck will not pass inspection if the air bag is tampered with. A missing airbag will report to the OBD (your computer) and will cause a fail for your safety inspection. Sorry!
