Question about 2003 Chevrolet Cavalier

1 Answer

My 2003 Cavalier is very sluggish when the A/C is on... but ONLY when the weather is very hot and humid. Any other time I use the A/C the car runs fine---also no problem during the winter when running heat. What could the problem be?

What is the weight of the oil? Heavier oil will cause a sluggish start/spin in cold weather. 15W40 is heavy. This can kill a battery in no time. Other problems are related to hot/overheated problems.

How to tell if the timing chain jumped in a 89 Cavalier Z24 2.8 V 6?

Chains don't jump very often. IF it did then it would be enough to not allow the engine to run. The issue is most likely a worn chain or gears. This will result in back fire, hard to start and sluggish behavior.

is it the ecotec engine fitted 1.8 or 2.0./2.2l or the diesel 1.7 engine.. how long have you not used the air con for. not using it for a long time you can damage the pump the flown sensor. even the temperature sensor. but if the engine is trying to stall with the ac on then the pump may have a fault. ac should be run for 10min once a week no matter the weather. stops you having problems later.

first problem is simply your radiator cooling fans (there tow of them) are not working my be due to a fuse and/or relay those fans are turning with ac on even if your car is cold and turns when radiator gots hot even if ac is off
so when your car is hot open the hood and just take a look are they running or not they just in front of radiator
