Question about 1992 Audi 80

1 Answer

I have a 94audi 80tdi.The yellow vacuum unit beside the air filter box is clicking mad fast when the ignition is on. she wont start. she is taking diesel to injector pump but wont pump any to the injectors. I have changed this vacuum unit, Injector pump, and the Engine ECU. Still the same, clicking and wont start. Any ideas?.The ignition key is just a solid one, [no chip]. The Injector pump has a fly by wire system.[no throttle cable]. Does this car still have some kind of immobiliser system. if so where is it located. Maybe this has nothing to do with my problem. If i dissconect the black round plug from injector pump on another Audi80tdi the same clicking occurs. Please help me fix this.Regards,Terrance, Opel mechanic for 18 years.

The clciking noise is due to fuel pump relay, which has gone bad or has one of its terminals shorted with other and needs a replacement. Please check the fuel pump relay and other relays aswell. Check the relay in the fuse box besides the airfilter box.

Please do accept this solution and revert for further assistance.

    Hi Terrance

I dont think there is a immobiliser in this car, however you can try to change the injector pump, or before that change the fuel pump relay & check if it works.

Vt commodore. I removed the engine cont fuse while doing a fuse check.. now my car wont start or do anything.. if you leave ignition on there is a contstant click from the box beside the fuse box

The clicking is probably coming from the starter solenoid. This probably needs to be replaced. Try putting car in gear and rocking back and forth a few times. Make sure ignition is off.

I have a 1992 ford f150 pickup 2wheel drive it turns over and tries to start but wont it has new ignition cole new fuel pump new plugs and wires new distrubutor and cap all from napa and it still wont...

Is fuel getting tho the cylinders? Remove the fuel line at the intake manifold, put the hose in a container, try starting see how much and how fast is the fuel coming out. If normal, fuel is not the issue. If not check the fuel filter and lines. Is it getting enough air to start? Remove the air intake hose, see if it starts, if it does the air filter is most likely severely clogged.

No power from take off, sluggish

Changed your fuel filter lately? Deisel motors take a regular filter change as they collect water in the fuel and become clogged leading to bad performance and eventualy a no start condition.

I have a 2004 Pontiac Grand Prix and want to change the air filter. Stupid question, but where is it located?

right beside the engine (the engine is in the middle) in a black box usually over a wheel. The black box will have clips (3-4) that you need to unhook. lift the box apart (might have to use some strength) take the old filter out. its about an inch thick. clean out the bottom of the box out of some debris. install the new filter positioned like the old on. close the clips. if the clips connect then youve install it properly.

Vaccuum under the air filter box runs even when the key isnt in

It sounds like your air pump is malfunctioning. It is used to pump emissions out the back of the car. it is controlled by a vacuum. These will drain your battery if the vacuum does not send a signal to shut it off.

bad solenoid / winter kills solenoids and there right beside the exaust the hot and cold wears them out real real fast.change the solenoid and it should be back to normal.and sounds like you need a new ignition key switch.

Locate the air mass sensor next to the air filter box remove it and clean it very careful. Blow it dry and vacuum all dust around it. replace air filter.

If i'm not mistaken the light beside the battery sign is the check engine light. this lights up if anything under the hood is not functioning the way it should. Unfortunately i cannot be more specific on this. It just means that you could be staring at a major repair, or your gas cap could be too loose (no kidding).

Well as you've mention your oil is dropping at a very fast rate then its a good place to start checking. You can check if your oil seals are ok and might as well check all the filters...oil filters, fule filters air filters.

Hope i have answered your question. Goodluck!
