Removing and replacing is not the problem, easy job. Changing the springs is the only problem. Make sure you are very careful when removing springs. Better to have a parts store do it for you. If you do decide to change yourself just make sure clamps are tight and take your time to follow directions exactly. Be careful, good luck and have a great day.

Is a rear diff from a 1997 subaru legacy wagen with a 2.2l inter changeable with a 1997 subaru legacy outback with a 2.5l ?

the only way you can do this is if you can identify the gear ratios from both cars with the transmission codes found on the strut tower plate.
see this list to check for matches, read it carefully its a ton of info

Can you switch a rear diff from a 1997 subaru legacy wagen with a 2.2l inter changeable with a 1997 subaru legacy outback with a 2.5l ?

the biggest draw back that you will have to check first is the ratio of the diffs you want to change. If they are not the same but will fit then you will destroy the 3rd diff in the transmission from excessive use.

Is there an access pannel under the rear seat of 1999 subaru legacy outback to access the top side fuel tank?

Yes, under the rear seat bottom on a sedan or behind the rear seat back on the panel under the carpet on the cargo area, right behind the seat back, screws hold the panel on, fuel pump right below it, easy to replace...I just did mine,1998 Legacy Wagon.

96 subaru outback has rear end binding noise

I assume youy have a "binding" sensation on tight, low speed turns. If your car is an automatic, the "Four wheel drive" solenoid will most likely need replacing. This is located at the back of the trans and does not require the entire trans to be removed for its replacement. In some circumstances, simply changing the trans fluid can remedy your issue, but more often than not, the solenoid will require changing. It would be advisable to change the fluid first, as it is not expensive to do and may help significantly. Hope this helps.
