Question about 2004 Dodge Ram 1500

What damages are caused from being rear ended

I was rear-ended on June 11. Two days later the check engine light came on. The body shop took it to see why. He said that it was the egr valve. I called the dealer ship. They said it could be the valve or the canister since it was rear ended but I would have to bring it by to make sure. I don't know the codes so, my question is, " Did getting rear ended cause the light to come on? Can being rear ended cause either the valve to go bad or the canister to cause problems?" The insurance company does not want to fix this because they said that this has nothing to do with being rear ended...

No the canister is in the front & this is probably unrelated to being hit. If the valve is bad it definately had nothing to do with it.

Have someone who knows what they are doing try to pull the code, instead of erasing it and telling you it's fine. That is a no go. I would say lots of hesitation could have to do with the crankshaft position sensor, camshaft position sensor, etc.

contact the place where the tire was changed and let them know that they damaged the TPMS sensors. If they have a grain of integrity, they'll make it right.

Battery keeps dieing..jump start and runs for a few days and dies

Humm ...Didn't die before the accident? now dies? BMW has good mechanics, but could not find any problem???. I gota think that it is related to the rear ending, but how? I would look for loose connections, Battery Ground that might have been removed before welding.Battery terminals, Any primary connections that may not be making 100% contact . It's worth a try.Good Luck

It sounds like the emissions system VAPOR CANISTER VACUUM has a vacuum leak from the canister to the motor & its not reburning all of the fuel. An emissions test is in order with a computer scan (2nd opinion) (someone took a bad guess)
