You might have caused a short and blew the fuse. I would start there.

I wnet out of gas on my VW Beetle 2001 last saturday. When I added gas to the tank, the car wouldn't start and the EPC light went on and I haven't been able to get it to start ever since. Would the EPC light have anything to do with the gas pump or anything related to running out of gas?

Hi there, with this kind of problem in general, you have to look on any source from where your battery is being drained. Check your new battery if it is drained again. If the voltage is below 12V means there is a close circuit that is using your battery while it is stopped. Recharge your battery and try starting your car or ask a friend to jump your car. If it wont start check your starter motor. Another factor to think of is maybe your alternator is not charging your battery.

2008 sonata fuel gauge jumps up and down

The fuel pump ran dry without gas and now it has a fault. Unplug the battery after you fill it all the way up, then reconnect it. This should cause it to reset and work properly.

It is possible that the pump failed because of an overheating problem. Make sure the fans run by turning on the air conditioning. They should operate as soon as it is turned on. Bad fans are a common problem. The pump should not have been leaking after replacement though. Make sure you have no leaks first and foremost. Then make sure the fans work. There is also a fan control module located in the area under the battery, but it is difficult to properly diagnose. If the fans do not turn on with the a/c, you can jump the wires at the thermo switch. One should be power, and when you jump to one wire they should go to low speed, the other high.

It sounds like a relay. There is a relay that ties into all of those systems. Usually a fuse will affect only one thing. I would call your local VW dealer and ask them if that sounds like a relay. If so, it should be mounted under the console beneath the dash. Good luck. Hope this may help.
