Question about 2006 Nissan Sentra

1 Answer

I have a 2006 Sentra with a Check engine soon light on. I went by Advance yesterday and had it checked. They said gas cap was loose. It went off and came back on today. I bought a new cap and still have the light on. Any ideas?

The gas cap is not connected to the engine but my guess would be the censor for the gas cap.

Why does the check engine light comes on saying the gas cap is loose or off when it is on tight.

Hi,
looks like there is a sensor on the filler cap/lid side.
which is faulty and not sending correct signal to the main computer in the car.

Service engine soon light came on. No noticable problems. took it to Advance Auto and their computer said it was a evap or vacuum problem

this can be caused by a loose gas cap or bad seal on your gas cap - check that first - hope that helps - have a nice day :O)

Hello. go back to auto zone and have them reset your computer so there are no codes. then drive as usual and wait to see if the check engine light comes on again soon. Most likely it will not. AAMCO repair shops also do a free scan and reset.

2006 Saturn Relay Check Engine Light

PO455 is a large evaporative fuel leak. A bad fuel cap is ONE of the things that COULD be the problem. Fuel system cleaning only lightened your wallet. Reading your post is confusing. Did all this start AFTER the Valvoline Wallet Flushing? If so , they left something loose or disconnected. I would find a qualified repair shop to fix the problem, and if it has anything to do with what Valvoline did, make them pay the bill.

2006 kia rio check engine light on and code P0455

A code p0455 most likely means one or more of the following has happened:
  • A loose or improperly affixed gas cap
  • A non-conforming gas cap (i.e. not factory/original brand)
  • Other leak or damaged piece in EVAP system

With a p0455, the most common repair is to:
  • Remove and reinstall the gas cap, clear the codes2.gif, and drive for a day and see if the codes come back.
  • Otherwise, replace the gas cap, and/or
  • Inspect the EVAP system for cuts/holes in tubes/hoses (you may hear a vacuum2.gif

Service engine soon light

Sometimes if you leave your gas cap loose or you don't get it on right it can set this code. Check your gas cap and clear code with your scanner. If it comes back on you will need to take it into your dealer as it should be under warranty.
