Re: How do I adjust free play in toyota t-100 clutch
Check the bracket that supports the clutch pedal its self first, these have been known to crack and flex with time that can give symptoms of clutch worn out or in need of adjustment or air in hydraulics cylinder.

CLUTCH ADJUSTMENT:
(a) Check that the pedal free play and push rod play are correct.
(1) Depress the pedal until clutch resistance begins to be felt. Pedal free play:
5.0 to 15.0 mm (0.197 to 0.591 in.)
(2) Gently depress the pedal until the resistance begins to increase a little. Push rod play at pedal top:
1.0 to 5.0 mm (0.039 to 0.197 in.)
(b) Adjust the pedal free play and push rod play.
(1) Loosen the lock nut and turn the push rod until the correct free play and push rod play are obtained.
(2) Tighten the lock nut.
Torque: 12 N*m (120 kgf*cm, 8.7 ft.*lbf)
(3) After adjusting the pedal free play, check the pedal height.
If it's a hydraulic operated clutch, as I think it is, then no, there is no adjustment. Only the cable operated clutches were adjustable. But there is a clutch pedal height and free-play adjustment that needs to be correct. Freeplay distance is 3/16 to 5/8 inch, adjusted at the pedal end of clutch pushrod. I don't know the pedal height for your pickup (you'll have to ask some toyota person), but the adjustment is made near top of pedal where it contacts the stopper bolt.
The only clutch adjustment you can make is peddle free play. There's an adjustable rod between the top of the peddle and the clutch master cylinder: http://www.ncttora.com/fsm/1993/clutch/2checkand.pdf
there are only two adjustment you can make on a hydraulic clutch set up and that is pedal hight and free play. To adjust pedal hight you rotate pedal stop bolt at top of pedal assembly to adjust the hight. To adjust freeplay you loosen the lock nut at the master cylinder pushrod and turn push rod in or out to the specified freeplay then you tighten everything back up
Clutch ADJUSTMENTS 1997-98 Models CLUTCH PEDAL HEIGHT
The clutch pedal height should not be a periodic adjustment but may be checked after components of the mechanical clutch system have been replaced.
The proper clutch pedal height should be 0.2 in. (5mm) above the brake pedal height
If adjustment is necessary, loosen the locknut and turn the adjusting bolt until the appropriate height is reached. Once set, keep the bolt from turning and tighten the locknut to secure the adjustment.
CLUTCH PEDAL FREE-PLAY
The clutch pedal free-play should be checked from time-to-time in order to assure proper clutch operation.
The proper clutch free-play should be 0.6-1.1 in. (15-25mm).
Fig. 1: Pedal free-play is adjusted at the joint nut (2), while keeping the outer cable nuts (3) tightened around the center cable thread portion
Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the precautions in the beginning of this section.
If the free-play must be adjusted, turn the joint nut (2) located at the transmission end of the clutch cable in or out, as necessary to achieve the proper play.
Once the correct pedal free-play is obtained, check the free-play on the release arm (c), it should be 0.02-0.06 in. (0.5-1.5mm).
1999-01 Models
These vehicles are equipped with a hydraulic clutch system. No adjustment is necessary.
The only adjustment you have is pedal free play. The rod attached to the end of the clutch peddle has a threaded adjustment and a stop nut to hold it in place. Free play should be about 1/2" measured at the pedal.
The linkage cable before the trans should have an adjustment nut on it.
This controls the fork assembly movement. adjust the linkage to remove
the pedal free play and this will also tighten the clutch.
ther is an adjuster on the back off the pedal via the master cylinder . you slacken the 12mm nut, and either anti cockwise to slacken the pedal. or clockwise to remove the free play . but be carefull!! what is the reason you want to adjust????
The rod at the end of the slave cylinder can be adjusted. make sure clutch pedal has no more than an inch and a half of free play. If free play is within the 1.5" & still have problem with clutch disengaging, chances are clutch is worn
Chech the free play on the clutch pedal it could be to tight. If so adjust the pin in wards of the clutch master under the dash board so that has free play.
