Check real oil pressure with gage. If it is really low , it indicates an engine problem. DO NOT drive with low oil pressure. It will destroy an engine. If pressure is ok, change oil pressure sending unit.

The light comes on when its time to change your oil. I do believe yours is factory set for 7,000 miles. Thus just at or prior to driving 7000 miles it will come on telling you its time for another oil change

The computer controls the cam timing by using a solenoid valve inside the engine. The valve works by oil pressure. The code means the computer can not control the valve timing. Usually the valve is faulty or there is a problem with oil pressure. Since you say the oil pressure light is coming on, I would expect to find a problem with the oil pump or excessive dirt in the engine. If the oil pressure switch is good, it will turn the light on when the oil pressure drops below 5 psi. And if it is that low, I doubt oil is reaching the valves.
You should check and make sure that you oil level is full. Or make sure that its not past time for an oil change bcause if its past or time the oil is all broken down and thin and the oil pump gage says theres no pressure
1992 ford explorer with the oil light coming on, this can be due to a bad switch, this switch is called the oil pressure switch and is located near the oil filter area, this would be the cheapest way to go first and if the light still comes on then you will need to have a pressure gauge hooked to where the switch goes and the gauge will tell you if its really low on oil pressure and if it is then this may be due to worn engine bearings or weak oil pump, i will tell you i have not seen an explorer with low oil pressure just needing a oil pump, most of the time it is time for another engine. what =i have seen is alot of them with bad oil pressure switches that were making the oil light come on . hope this is helpful, good luck.
That light should reset itself after you changed the oil .If you have changed the oil and it doesn't reset ,try disconnecting the batter for about 5 mins. check your milage, see how many miles you normally drive before that light normally comes on. That is so, if that light dosen't come on ,you will know its time to change the oil. If that light doesn't come on at the right amount of miles,have your oil changed at the dealer and ask them to check the oil change warning light .If they find nothing wrong ,no charge . This warning light is fairly new ,in the old days people just guessed ,its about time to change the oil !
could be a malfunction of the oil pressure switch or u have not change the oil in time for some time and is sludged inside yuor engine, oil gets muddy (burn) it looks like is oil in it but is not
could be the oil pump, but before you get to that, whens the last time you had you oil changed? is it the right type? was the filter changed to? if the oil is to thick for your engine, the pump could be having a problem pushing it. If its dirty, same thing applies. Next time you change your oil, be sure to use a full synthetic. its a superior oil all around.
First, check the oil level on the dipstick. If it is low, add the required amount of approved motor oil. If the level is correct and the light still comes on, there may be other issues.
