The radio in my 97 vw jetta works fine but all of the sudden the 6 cd changer in the trunk appears to not be getting power. Cd magazine wont open when i press eject. Also, on the radio, when i press "mode" the only options it now dislays are am and fm. The radio doesnt seem to be acknowledging that the cd player is hooked up. Could it be a fuse for the cd player? Where is that located? On the cd unit itself?

If you buy another factory radio it'll need the unlock code to work with your factory alarm system. But if you go with an after market radio it'll work just fine, your alarm will just think there's no radio installed.

most likely cause is latch cover plastic has broken and got lodged in the latch mechanism. now the fun part, fold down back seat , slide into trunk with a phillips screwdriver a flashlight and a large strait blade screwdriver, once in trunk remove trunk cover, then with strait blade unlatch the trunk. once lid is open remove latch and take out broken plastic to free up latch and reinstall then retest before closing trunk.

one is located over the battery, the other is located in the side of the dash.
First panel:
If you pop your hood the battery will be on your right sid in the front of the engine bay. There is a small rectangular piece on top of the battery with a lot of heavy guage red wires going to it. That is the engine bay fuse box.
Second panel:
if you open your driver side car door it's under neath a panel located inbetween the door and the dash board.

Try this. Go to the cd changer and unplug it. Wait ten seconds and then replug it. Should work then.
