Question about 1996 Ford Escort 4 Door

1996 1.9 Radator fan will not come on. Over heating

1996 1.9 Radator fan will not come on. I have replaced the fan motor and the fan switch on the block. I was told by the auto parts store that there was also a relay. I purchased the relay and went looking looking for the relay. I found 4 relays switchs just like the one I purchased under the inside dash below the stearing wheel. There are four relays and I'm not sure which one is the one I need. Not sure if the relay I want is somewhere else. I don,t see this relay on the engine area. Or is it possible there is another reason why the fan will not come on. I let the car run till it started to get hot. I know the fan should of come on way before reaching that point. Is there picture view of what I am looking for.
Thank you
Michael

The igniton coil its not working and the car was over heating does that have anything to do with the car over heating

No. Overheating will be from a stuck thermostst, water pump, or the radator fans not working. And ofcourse low coolant.

Radator fan wont work changed fuse and sencor already worked a day then quit again

i would suspect the fan motor may be going defective, check your fuse and your fan stat if either one is defective again replace your fan motor.

The fan motor probably shorted and blew the fuse. The other possibility is that the fan switch melted and the positive wire shorted to ground somewhere. I have seen the switches actually melt the dash where it is located on Ford vans. If you un-plug the fan motor and replace the fuse and try to use the switch and it does not blow the fuse, the motor is probably bad. If you have a volt meter you could check the motor to see if there is a dead short between the positive terminal on the motor and the motor case using the Ohms scale. Hope this helps you out!

My 1998 vw beetle keeps over heating ive replaced the therostat, fan switch and the temp sensor. it hasn,t over flowed the anti freeze the temp sesor in the car turs red and beeps and it flashes wwhats...

The fans must come on before everything starts boiling. Is there another temp sensor besides the one you replaced? Did you replace it with a switch type rather than a thermal resistor type. The temp sensor should tell the computer to turn on the fans and the computer is supposed to turn on the fan relay and it turns on the fans. If they work with the A/C, that eliminates the computer output, the relay and the fans, and gets back to the temperature sensor.

It takes a while for the fans to turn on. If not, it could be faulty temp sensor or fan relays which can be found by tracing the wires from fan motor.
I also recommend changing the thermostat and using a 50/50 coolant mixture. A thinner oil is also better at keeping the engine cooler. Same with synthetic oil
