Question about 2004 Ford Expedition

Tire pressure sensor or gauge

The tire pressure sensor or system on my 2004 ford expedition XLT 4.6 V8 recently started flashing 7-8 times on start-up then goes off. I have no other dash lights or warning lights appearing on my dashboard. What is it? Do I have to take it to the dealership? And how much is the cost parts/labor for either part if there different.

Thank you.
Jeff

Have you checked tire pressure? It will come on if your tire pressure is just a few pounds low.

You can push the reset button inside the vehicle where you scroll through your custom options. Drive the truck for about 2 minutes and it should go off. Did you check the tire pressure, there is a sticker on your door jam for the proper tire pressure for your expedition and don't for get the spare tire under the truck, it's has a sensor too. Sean people pay the $45.00 for the half hour at the dealer to fill the spare tire to the proper tire pressure even though it took 5 min to fill and 25 min to test drive to the coffee shop. Good luck and hope this helps. keep me posted if you need more information

Why is 2001 ford expedition jerky at 40 mph?

I need a little more information to give you an answer. There are a number of things that can cause your vehicle to do this. Is it hard to start, how does it idle, how does it act above 40,and how does the exhaust smell, is there any black suite coming out of the exhaust when you get on the gas, what engine is it V8, or V6. The item that can cause this are, fuel pressure relief valve, mass air flow sensor, throttle position sensor and the oxygen sensor.. If you can answer these for me it will help me give you a better answer. Thanks.

Tire pressure sensor stays on

Be sure to verify tire pressure of your spare tire too. They have started including tire pressure sensors on them as well as your 4 tires in use.

The words tire reset keep on popping up on my dashboard. What does that mean, and how do I get rid of it? 2004 Ford Freestar.

With and without "Mesage Center" respectively (pretty sure)

With the engine on...

Push "Setup" button, until your driver display says something like "Press Reset for system check".

Then push Reset. The system check will start, rotating through a series of checks.

About the fifth or sixth check will be the tire pressure. The system will sound the tone (same one that starts w/the light) and It'll say something like "Check Tires Pressure" on that moment press and hold for 3 or 4 seconds Reset. When you release the Reset button It'll show "Hold Reset if tires are OK". While that's up, hold the Reset button. After 3 or 4 seconds, the tire warning light will blink 2 or 3 times and then will stop .You need to be ready for it, because you don't get very long to release.

How to reset the low tire pressure warning if the vehicle does not have the "Message Center"

Turn the ignition to the ON position,
depress and Trip/odometer button (located in the instrument cluster) until "TIRE RESET" or "CHECK TIRE AND RESET" is displayed in the odometer display window.
Once "TIRE RESET" or "CHECK TIRE AND RESET" is displayed, press and hold the button for three seconds.
The low tire warning indicator light will flash three times as the low tire warning system begins to initialize.

This information is in the Owners Manual

Hope it helps

Will not start! strong cranking and plenty of gas. For the last 3 days it started on the 3rd attemp. before this , it started 1st time every time.

has the engine skipped or been sluggish recently? the ignition coils are a common problem on the ford V8. could also be a crank position sensor. check for any codes in the ecm and as always, an engine basically needs 3 things to run, air, fuel, and spark. keep in mind that even though your fuel gauge is telling you the tank is full, the pump may be dead, or it could be a bad fuse. so you need to check for fuel pressure at the fuel rail to be sure.

A/C compressor on a 1998 Ford Explorer XLT 5.0 V8 not engaging.

Low pressure in the system and the clutch will not engage. The low pressure sensor is on it for a reason.
