What could be the issue with my 2010 Corolla and it will not start. I had the battery tested and that is good

I have a 2010 Corolla and it will not start. I had the battery tested and that is good- nothing comes on when you turn the key, it just clicks. The battery cables are clean, we have checked all of the fuses. It started when he left the house, he went to fill up with gas, turned it off and it would not start when he finished filling up

This sounds like a bad starter. If you locate the starter it will sometimes work temporarily if you peck on it with a hammer

sounds to me that you have an igniton problem not a starter problem and or if you have or had an alarm system could be cause if u do give me feedback and i will explain but seems that your starter is fine from what u say but if you think in terms of the elemts to start a vehicle batery gives pwoer to ignition which sends to starter which gives spark etc i would check you ignition system something is causeing a short and not alowing starter to function

SOURCE: 1999 Camry won't start. Just loud click noise

The starter is malfunction at this time. it could also be a ignition issue as well. here is a quick starter test procedure that will help you troubleshoot a bit.

Step 1
Check for 12 volts on the large wire attached to the top terminal on the starter relay. It should have battery voltage. If not, the battery, terminals or wire is bad.

Step 2
Check the small wire on the solenoid for power when the key is in the start position. Remove the small wire on the solenoid and have a helper hold the key in the start position. Check the wire for battery voltage. If there is voltage, the starter is bad. If there is no voltage, replace the wire.

Step 3
Check the fuse in the fuse box under the hood on the left fender well. If it is good, check the relay by pulling it out and checking for power at one terminal with the key off. If there is no power, the problem is in the fuse box between the fuse and the relay. If there is power, have the helper hold the key in the start position once again and check for power at another terminal from the ignition key. If there is power, the relay is bad. If there is no power, the starter circuit is suspect.

Step 4
Check to see if there is power to the neutral safety switch if there is no power at the relay. Use the voltmeter to check for power with the key in start. If there is power going in, check for power going out. If there is no power going in, the security system or ignition switch is suspect. If there is power going in and none coming out, the switch is bad. If there is power coming out, the problem is between the neutral switch and the relay.

Step 5
Remove the cover on the bottom of the steering column. Check the solid yellow wire for power when the key is in the start position. If there is no power, the ignition switch is bad.

2010 corolla not charging replaced altinator and fuses and battery still having this problem

Hi. There are four things to look at. One of the four will be the issue. Check for ground at the alternator. Check for battery power at the alternator's main (+) battery terminal. Check the field for 12volts (Key On). If these three tests pass you will need to remove the alternator and have it bench tested. This should help. Please let me know if you are still having an issue. Good Luck.

2010 corolla wont crank and start

Sounds like your ECM / ECU may need to be re-flashed at the dealer, have you tried pulling the codes? The check engine light does NOT need to be on for it to have codes stored. The starting issue could be caused by the TPS / MAF / MAP sensors, the flashing of the odometer could be something with your PSOM chip or your VSS sensor. Pull the codes see what you get.

Problems starting

It sounds to me like you are looking at the wrong thing. If you needed a battery it would not turn over. Try just turning the key to the on position for a few seconds. If it starts right up you may have a fuel check valve the is not working properly all the time. It has been a long time since I worked on cars so I can only point you in what I think is the right direction possibly. Good Luck

Hard to start toyota corolla 1994

if its hard to start it could be a battery issue and you might just have to replace the battery. i could also be a starter, in which you would just need to replace it. if i were you i would test the batttery before and after a load has been applied. if you dont know how then you can just take it to an advanced auto parts and they have a machine in which it tests the battery and other components and it can tell you if it the starter or battery. i could also be spark plugs but thats a rarity because it would just affect how the vehicle runs not really how it starts.

On my 1998 Toyota Corolla, after it starts and runs fine..you turn the key off and it will not start again without a jump. After a quick jump it starts right away. The battery is only a year old. Is it the...

Check for loose battery terminals. Car will not start without jump because battery is not connected properly. Starter is probably good or car would not start with or without jump. If alternator is bad and not producing current, car would die after running a short while as battery would out of juice and without alternator current the car would die - so probably alternator is good. If connections are all good, get a voltmeter and test the battery voltage - it should be over 12.75 volts. If not, battery is not holding charge.

1995 Toyota Corolla 1.9 Automatic. Starter clicks, but no spin. Tested good at parts store (bench test). Cables and ground cleaned and good.

95 Corolla is either 1.6 or 1.8.

Wire the starter straight to the battery to test. If it turns, then it means the starter connections are no good.

Test the battery voltage.
