Question about 1998 Ford Expedition

1 Answer

1999 Ford 5.4l acts like its misfiring, but egine is fine, when I accelrate from a stop or steep inclines its jerky for a little bit, and feels like its running over small rocks then drives fine. This is not a constant problem just every now and then.

Check your #7 coil. These are a horrible design, and have fun getting to it. In case you're wondering, #7 is in the far back on the passenger side. Water drips in to the top of it, burning it out. It is a more than common problem in the Fords.

What could be causing a 04 ford explorer xlt to be grinding when turning left, acts like auto 4x4 trying to kick in, any ideas what the problem could be?

the problem you describe seems to be a symptom of dirt or dammage in the autolocking hub system , you will need to dissasemble to see what the cause is any further , this might be a good place to say what i allways tell my fellow 4x4 folks if your gonna drive thru Mud/sand/dirty water then make it a point to carry a jug or two of fresh water with you and after reaching clean road again use this water to flush out seals in front and behind your front tires you'll save your self a bunch of worries down the road

2002 escape 3.0 idle fluctuates and misfires when driving

No such thing as a tune-up

All you did was replace spark plugs which should be
done every 3 years

Oxygen Sensors get replaced at 100,000 miles which you
also did

You most likely have an intake gasket leak, smoke test
the entire Evap System & Engine

You also are have bad igniton coils

Misfire when accelerating

Year, make and model of your vehicle would help. If you can check for codes in the engine control module, it would also help in better diagnosing your possible issue and resolve.

What have you done so far as to diagnosis ? Have you checked for any vacuum leaks ? Have you checked if your coils/plugs are in good condition ? Adding as much detail information is best.

I backed my 1997 explorer into a slightly inclined parking space and left it running when I returned it had shutdown and the check gauges light was on and it will not restart.

If the incline is steep enough, you may have had enough angle on the tank to allow air into the fuel line and it will act like you are out of gas. Try coasting off the incline and starting on flat ground.

Tranny is very rough and jerky around 50-60mph and especialy on inclines. Fluid and filter recently changed

This could be a misfire in the engine, get it scanned for any codes and have the shop look at mode 6 to check for any misfire events.

What does it mean when my 1999 rav4 will suddenly

Sounds like a vaccum problem, but I am not sure. It is not vapor locking on you is it? Maybe your fuel pump? A lot of possibilities.

Fuel problem

Sounds more like tuning problem. Clean or replace plugs, gapping them to specs and see how that works for you.
