Question about 2000 Hyundai Elantra
The driver's side master switch you describe is 'popped/clipped' into place. It can be removed (very carefully) by prying it out. However, the best way to do it without damaging the 'place holder' (armrest), is to remove the interior door panel itself and access the clips from behind the panel to remove it (otherwise the new switch assy may not fit snuggly).
