I have a 2006 pontiac torrent n puttin in a new starter ,,it has 2 posts 1 has the solenoid wire n 1 for power wire does the other wire go on the solenoid post or the power post ?

Usually two voltage circuits to the starter solenoid. The largest terminal should the cable that comes from battery. A smaller cable, although still big, with insulation on it, is the starter field terminal, goes into the starter motor body.
There should be a smaller terminal, starter s terminal that is feed from starter switch crank position.
You may have to compare old starter solenoid with new one, as far as the wiring. See if they are the same as far as wire terminals? I'm not sure I answered your question? I can't see anything from here?

Need wiring diagram for starter solenoid.

No you don't. Big post is for battery in. Little post is for start wire. If solenoid is on fender and you have two small posts, one trips the solenoid when hit with 12 vdc, the other sneds 12 when the one is hit.

How do you hook up the wires to the starter if there is more then one big red wire? do they all go to the same stud?

Hi, there should be one big wire and one smaller wire. The big wire goes on the top terminal, and the smaller wire goes on the start terminal (marked with an "S"). Do you have more than 2 wires?

What is wiring diagram of 1990 Chevy suburban starter I have three wires two go on the big post coming out of the soleniod one attached to the small post on the soleniod cart wont turn over

check that you have 12 volts at the big post with the two wires. If you have voltage there then very carefully touch the big post to the little post with a steel rod or screwdriver. If your battery is good then this process will bypass the keyswitch. be careful because as soon as you touch the two post the engine will turn over. The little wire send a signal to the solenoid to engage the starter motor. check the voltage of the little wire dissconnected. when someone turns the key to the start position the little wire should get 12 volts.

Wiring of solnoid for 1997 ford mustang

Big terminal next to motor gets the ground wire. Other big terminal gets the big red hotwire from battery. The little terminal gets the white/pk wire from the starter relay/ignition switch. Always remove the neg batt terminal before hooking up starter, as you can easily get melted wire in your eye down there. I assumed you have the stock setup, but if you have a modified setup with a remote solenoid, please get back to me.

Looking to reinstall a solenoid for my 84 Bronco II and a buddy mixed up the wiring for it, i have no idea how to reconnect it to the new one.

Big wire from positive from battery goes to big stud facing the battery. Big wire to starter goes on other big stud. Little wire or wires go to little post. If you have 2 little posts they are labeled I (ignition) & S (starter). If you put on wrong little post it wont engage starter when you turn key to start. Just connect it to the other then it will engage starter when you turn the key to start.

Hello, i need instructions on how to wire a replacement solenoid in my 1995 ford ranger pickup, 4 cyl. The directions in the package only account for 3 wires and i have 4 wires going to my origional...

Starter solenoid???? 2 large posts and 2 small posts on old one or 2 large and 1 small? the one large wire goes to the starter(rear post), all the others goes on the front post. little wire goes on the little post, if the old one has 4 posts, then you have the wrong solenoid.

Wiring for a 1993 ford f150 starter

not correct
the negative wire should be attached under the head of a mounting bolt for the starter
the circuit is that the power goes into the positive terminal ( big terminal) through the solenoid when activated out the second big terminal through the fields and armature to ground
the power to activate the solenoid is either from a power wire from the ignition switch to a small terminal on the solenoid through the windings to ground that activates the solenoid and closes a set of contacts in the solenoid to allow the power across the 2 big terminals
