Question about 2005 Pontiac Sunfire
That code is for the fuel system the system performs a pressure test when the vehicle reaches a certain speed for a certain period of time, predetermined from the factory. The Gas cap is the most likely suspect. you see the vehicle will periodically pressurize the fuel system to check for leaks. If the cap is loose, the system can't pressurize the system and assumes there is a leak. tightening the cap is only one part of the answer. check to make sure the filler neck is not corroded, it it is plug the tank hole with a rag, note don't put it in all the way silly. use a brillo pad to clean any rust. then re-attach the cap. the light will go out on its own once the vehicle passes it's own tests 3 times. so give it a good drive up to 50mph or so for about 20 mins.this should turn the light off. if not it is probably something else and you should see your dealer.
