Take it to any Auto Zone, Checker, or similar auto parts store, they will have the right adapter for your car and do it for free. Some auto shops will also do this for free. It will be a plug under driver side dash that you hook the computer up to.

What does message check engine with a triangle exclamation mark mean and number 1? Thanks

You don't say what year, brand and model car you have.

The Check Engine (CE) warning and the triangle warning are different.

1. If the CE light is on there are dozens of possible causes but you need to have the car scanned to see what faults have been generated and what irregularities show up in the operation of the engine. Don't delay having it professionally checked out or the computer may send the vehicle into limp mode to protect the engine or the engine may stop altogether and you will not be able to restart it..

2. The triangle with the exclamation mark is normally the traction control (TC) system warning. If this displays constantly the TC may have been turned off manually or (more likely) there is a problem detected with the TC system and it has been shut down by the computer. You will need a scan to see what faults the computer has detected so a proper diagnosis of the problem can be made.

Engine light is on and car hesitates shifting gears

HI:
you might have a speed sensor issue, but your first thing to do is to get your car codes scanned to see what code tripped the check engine light. This way you can narrow your troubleshooting to that area! Most Auto parts stores will scan your car for free, too!

I have a lincoln tc that runs great, no problems that I can find out right. But when I'm on the highway for 10-15 min the check engine light comes on. in neighborhood streets it does'nt happen only on the...

You may want to check the speed sensor of the car. IT should be located in between the engine and the transmission. At high speeds if the ecu would not get any feedback from the sensor it would normally light up the check engine light.

Check wrench light on lincoln ls 2004

The check engine light comes on to alert you that the computer has noted a fault in one of the car's systems. Take the car to an autoparts store and have them scan the computer for any codes it has stored. Most parts stores will do the scan for free. The codes will let you know what the computer has identified as a problem/potential problem. Hope this helped and best wishes.

It means there is a problem in your airbag system, and your airbags are not operational at this time. You should have it repaired as soon as possible.

Check engine on

the check engine comes on when a code is sent to the computer, if you dont fix the problem for the code being sent, it will not reset... you need to have the problem fixed first... then after the problem the shop can erase the code. or you can goto any autozone, pepboys, ETC. and pick up an OBD reader, the port for it should be under the driverside dash, it is normally there and might be covered by a cap. you connect it up to the computer there and read the codes, then you can clear them, after the problems are fixed.... the obd reader is not that expensive, you can pick them up for about 30 to 50 dollars depending on what you need to do, and there are ones that are very expensive also that will do everything except drive the car for you.... but as i said do not just reset the light cause you may think it is one thing, or something you replaced or fixed, but the light comes on for more then just that, there could be 1 code, or like 10 codes... you can get the code reader )OBD2) from Ebay also.... hope this helps you out....

2003 Ford Fous check engine light came on

If you have an Autozone near you, they will scan your car for error codes for free. Try going there and have them scan your car. Once they have the code that is causing the check engine light to come on they can tell you which part the computer is detecting as causing a problem. If you found this solution helpful please rate it.
