your timing belt has jumped 1-2 teeth i've never heard of an oil control solenoid valve

the timming belt or chain,doesnt have to be off the cogs to be ok,,,chains jump and belts shear,timming could be off and vlavles bent and not closing ,,this would cause no compression

How many miles on the car?
Which side of the engine area? Drips after you park etc?
Oil ever low? If so how often do you ad oil?
Any visible oil on engine and bay components under hood?

likely areas for oil leaks may include depending on model and make:
Oil pan gasket seal.
Oil pressure sending unit.
Oil filter installed dry or over tightened at your last oil change.
Oil drain plug loose or plug gasket needs replacing.
Valve cover gasket needs replacing.
Crank shaft seals need replacing.
Distributor seals need replacing.
RTV gasket sealer beyond expected life and need replacing for other engine components, inspection plates or covers.

Good morning, I have a 2002 Renault Clio 1.4 16v, There is an oil leak on the main crank pulley side, above the crank pulley, I cant see where the leak is, can some one help?


the most likely causes are cam cover seal. camshaft seals or the front cover/crankshaft oil seal the only way is to clean it all off ie a jet wash or solvent then run until you can see the relevant area. the most leaks in that area are caused by the camshaft oil seals on that engine

NEED DIAGRAM FOR LOCATIONS OF CRANKSHAFT PULLY,OIL SLINGER AND SPRING.FOR 1983 MAZDA 2.2L DIESEL


Here is the procedure:-


  1. Remove setscrew from side of cylinder block.


  2. Remove oil pipe attaching bolts.


  3. Remove oil pump and strainer.
TIMING GEAR COVER



  1. Remove timing gear cover to case attaching bolts.


  2. Remove timing gear cover and gasket.

CAMSHAFT, CRANKSHAFT, IDLER & INJECTION PUMP GEARS



  1. Remove oil slinger and washers from crankshaft snout.
Using puller set 49 0839 425C or equivalent, remove crankshaft timing gear, Fig. 3.


  1. Position a clean rag between camshaft and idler gears, then remove cam gear lock bolt and washers.


  2. Using puller set 49 0839 425C or equivalent, remove cam gear from camshaft, Fig. 3.


  3. Remove idler gear to spindle retaining nuts and washers, then remove idler gear and spindle assemblies.


  4. Remove injection pump drive gear.


  5. Remove timing gear case to cylinder block attaching bolts, then the timing case.



CAMSHAFT




  1. Remove tappets from cylinder block.


  2. Remove camshaft thrust plate to cylinder block retaining bolts and washers, then pull camshaft from block.



PISTON & CONNECTING ROD




  1. Remove connecting rod bearing cap retaining nuts and bolts, then separate bearing cap from connecting rod.


  2. Using the wooden handle end of a hammer, push the piston and connecting rod assembly outward until piston rings clear cylinder bore. Remove piston and connecting rod assembly through top of cylinder block.


  3. To separate piston from connecting rod, remove piston pin retaining clips, then press pin from piston using a suitable driver.



CRANKSHAFT




  1. Remove rear oil seal cap retaining bolts, then the cap and seal.


  2. Remove main bearing cap to cylinder block retaining bolts, then the main bearing caps and thrust washers.


  3. Lift crankshaft from cylinder block.

VOLVO V50 OIL ON CAMSHAFT COVER


I will try and simplify the problem. I have an oil leak, which I traced up the back of the engine to the cylinder head area.
When I removed the top plastic cover on top of the coil packs I found oil in every recess next to the coil packs. The crankcase breather pipe was also off. The source of the leak is not evident, but it is definetely above the cylinder head gasket area.

How to set the timing on 1998 GMC Sierra 5.7


5.0L and 5.7L Engines To Remove:
  1. Remove the crankshaft balancer.
  2. Drain the cooling system.
  3. Remove the water pump.
  4. Drain the engine oil.
  5. Remove all engine oil pan fasteners except two nuts at rear of engine.
  6. Separate the engine oil pan from the front cover.
  7. Disconnect the crankshaft position (CKP) sensor wire. gm-03-50-845.gif

  8. Remove engine front cover. gm-03-50-849.gif

  9. Pry the oil seal from the front cover.
  10. Inspect the front cover seal area and crankshaft balancer seal area for damage. gm-03-50-846.gif

  11. Rotate the crankshaft until the timing marks on the crankshaft and the camshaft sprockets are aligned.
  12. Remove the crankshaft position sensor reluctor ring. gm-03-50-847.gif

    NOTE: Free play on the slack side of the camshaft timing chain must measure less than 0.43 inch (11Mm) or timing chain and sprockets must be replaced.
  13. Remove the camshaft sprocket bolts.
  14. Remove the camshaft sprocket.
  15. Remove the camshaft timing chain. NOTE: Do not turn the crankshaft assembly after the timing chain has been removed in order to prevent damage to the piston assemblies or the valves.

  16. Remove the crankshaft sprocket using J 5825-A.
  17. Remove the crankshaft balancer woodruff keys (if required).
To Install:

  1. Install the crankshaft balancer woodruff keys into the crankshaft.
  2. Align the crankshaft sprocket keyway with the crankshaft balancer woodruff key. WARNING
    Wear eye protection when installing crankshaft sprocket.

  3. Use J 5590 to install crankshaft sprocket.
  4. Install the camshaft sprocket and camshaft timing chain. 9308kg61.gif

  5. Ensure that the crankshaft sprocket alignment mark is in the 12 o'clock position and the camshaft sprocket alignment mark is at the 6 o'clock position.
  6. Install the camshaft sprocket bolts and tighten the camshaft sprocket bolts;
    • Torque to: 18 ft. lbs. (25 Nm)
  7. Install the crankshaft position sensor reluctor ring until completely seated against crankshaft sprocket. NOTE: The composite type engine front cover and seal must not be reused. Always install a new engine cover with a new seal.
  8. Install new engine front cover and bolts.
    • Torque bolts to: 106 in. lbs. (12 Nm)
  9. Clean sealer from corners of oil pan gasket where it meets the engine front cover. gm-03-50-775.gif

  10. Apply a 0.196 in (5 mm) bead of adhesive, GM P/N 12346141 or equivalent, 1.0 in (25 mm) long to the engine front cover to engine block junction.
  11. Install oil pan bolts.
    • Torque bolts to: 106 in. lbs. (12 Nm)
  12. Tighten oil pan nuts.
    • Torque bolts to: 18 ft. lbs. (25 Nm)
  13. Connect the crankshaft position sensor wire.
  14. Install the water pump.
  15. Install the crankshaft balancer.
  16. Fill the engine to the proper level with oil.
  17. Fill the engine to the proper level with coolant.
  18. Test drive the vehicle to confirm the repairs.

Oil leaking


Check the cam and see if it has a grove worn in it if so the seal wont work unless you remove the spring from the seal and find the join untist it to seperate it the cut a couple of mm off the replace it to the seal

Leaking oil from the crankshaft seal on a 2001 Toyota Camery 4 cylinder 2.2 liter.


Ok you have to disassemble the front of the engine, remove time belt, remove crankshaft sprocket, I warn you in these engines often is the oil leak by the seal of the oil pump, so I recommend you change the seal the pump and the camshaft and thus warrant you. Thanks good luck comments

a favourite source of oil leak on these engines is the seal in the oil filler cap also check breather system is clear camshaft seals are a big job look at easey options first that is my advise

My toyota vienta 3VZ-FE 1996 - oil leak onto exhaust


Hi,

That engine will leak oil from

- cam cover gaskets (rear one drips on the exhaust)
- camshaft end seals
- distributor shaft o-ring (appears on top of transaxle housing)
- oil filter bracket to block o-ring seal (drips on front bank exhaust)
- crankshaft nose oil seal (have done with timing belt change)
- rear main seal (expensive, leave it be)

Changing Camshaft seal


1. Install the camshaft after lubricating the journal of the camshaft with engine oil. 2. Install the camshaft bearing caps.a0b9a5d.jpg
3. Install the ignition coil. 4. Install the rocker arm and rocker arm shaft. Refer to "Rocker Arms and Rocker Arm Shafts" section. 83e48db.jpg 5. Using special tools, Camshaft Oil Seal Installer (09221-21000), press fit the camshaft oil seal. Be sure to apply engine oil to the external surface of the oil seal. Insert the oil seal along the camshaft front end and install by driving the installer with a hammer until the oil seal is pulley seated. bda0592.jpg 6. 2000 escort zx2 part name and how to remove it


would like to help looked on one in yard thats in for repair and their isnt one,(europeon model ).where does the other end go too ?? white tape would have been better if its in the well just to the left of the no 1 spark plug their shouldnt be any oil their only a water jacket beneath it ?? strange one this,,,is their a sort of plastic button on the end peice like the fuel lines if so pull it out and it should come off.Honestly iam at a loss never seen this on a europeon model.
