There is a vacuum leak under the hood. If it's a 6 cylinder, look on the drivers side for a vacuum line that runs vertical with a 90 degree angle fitting to the manifold. That one usually comes off. If it is a V8 look on the battery side for a broken or corroded vacuum line.

try the water pump - first - make sure the radiator is really full - take the cap off cold and fill - if it looks full - start and run 8 minutes or so - then fill it up - look at ur fan belt - is it tight - tight is about how much pressure u use to make a firm hand shake with little movement - any movement over about an inch is loose - when the jeep warms up the belt can slip and not even make a noise - - new materials don't always squeal. - then be sure ur water pump is ok - they go slowing - the fins wear down - one more thing is the radiator - u don't say how many miles or what maintenance schedules you have or not so that's it for now

This happened to me. After I had my power steering pump replaced. It took me 3 places to finally find out the problem. When the garage put the power steering back on they didn't get it on correctly, I don't understand all the details but it somehow I was getting radiator fluid on my belts. Which caused no heat and overheating. It took a radiator place to figure this out. I took it to Jeep and they told me it was the power steering pump.
