if the wire is not connected to the frame or to the terminal correctly it will get hot or even burn the cover off, make sure both ends are metal to metal and tight, then cover in silicon jelly to stop the air getting to the metal and rusting (which will also cause a bad contact.

SOURCE: hello, i checked the wires

You have three other coils that are working. If you test the brown wires on those (brown/whit, brown/yellow, brown black) and the test light flashes than your on the right track with the bad PCM. You should see a flash or pulse with the test light as the PCM turns the ground on and off to trigger the coil.

If it where wiring (brown wire shorted) than it would burn up as soon as you turned the key on.

I replaced alt and it only charges at idle and not at all if headlights are on

You have replaced the alternator because? Did you check to see if it was any good before you replaced it? The charging rate is controlled by a regulator either in the alternator or in the ECM. The connections in the entire circuit have to be good. Check the grounds and connectors in the circuit. The condition of the battery is also important. If the battery doesn't have any capacity left the alternator wont get enough current flow through the field to power the alternator. You might need the services of a professional.

Wires on starter

that is simple.
day one build.
the big PLUS cable goes from battery PLUS LUG to outboard
Solenoid huge lug.
then the battery NEG lug goes to stop starter bolt and all G16 made.

last is the the dinky wire, that be obvious, the key line

here is a schematic of yours.
the ground is called G105 the fSM even shows photos of it.

NCA = no color assigned. mine are black.

Battery keeps dying, no headlights

Check to make sure the power lead from the alternator to the battery has a good connection. Sometimes the connectors get corroded, or the wire separates inside the insulation. You can check the wire for continuity with an Ohm meter...make sure to disconnect the wire at both ends when you use the Ohm meter.
Make sure the battery has a good clean ground. Make sure the alternator is grounded to the engine and the engine ground strap is intact and has clean grounds on both the engine and frame. Test the alternator with the engine running using a voltmeter across the battery. You should read 13.5 to 14.7 volts. If the alternator is not charging the battery will go dead under normal operation. If you don't get the correct charging voltage either your connections are bad or the alternator is bad.

1993 tracker, 4x4 auto ac... will not start (or click) battery fully charged, starter tested good, power at starter and ing wire 12 v when key is turned.

If all you say is true, good starter, new battery, and 12v at solenoid.... then you have to have a bad ground...check the ground wire at the engine block and make sure all cables are tight...

My 1999 tracker just shuts off at any time.It doesn't matter if it's hot or cold. I took it to a shop, they hooked it up to their computor. It showed nothing was wrong. They said it would have to do it...

many engine grounds are tied to the sane point, check these and also check the coil wire
Either of these could be intermittent and they would only show up on a computer if the systems lost their ground connection or the coil wire shorted to the engine block while it was hooked up

Electrical problems when starting

This sounds like a loose or bad ground cable. This can be checked by attaching negative side of jumper cable to engine and negative terminal of battery. If this solves problem, replace cable.
