SOURCE: digital external readout stays at 50 degrees,

External sensor is most bad or cloged. Remove the plastic cover that the hood prop rod fastens to and you will see the sensor. I purchased mine from the dealer for twenty dollars. If it gets worse and reads below 32 degrees your a/c will not come on. This happened to me in July.

SOURCE: 1994 GMC 350 Suerra 1500 put in a new thermostat

Several possibilities:

--Where are you measuring the temp? If it is from the gauge, then the sending unit for the gauge could be inaccurate. The only perfectly accurate way to measure the temp is at the radiator, measuring the actual antifreeze with a special test cap that lets you put a thermometer in the fluid:

--Another possibility is that the new thermostat is bad or mislabeled. Wouldn't be the first time! You might want to take the old thermostat and put it in a pot of water on your stove. Stick a thermometer in the pot as it comes to a boil and see when the thermostat opens. At least you'll know if the old one was really bad or not, and that is a clue to look elsewhere.

My thermostat went bad on my 1987 GMC Jimmy S15 classic. We have changed the thermostat but the gauge still reads 260 degrees. Is there a reset button?

No there are no reset buttons on any of the guages. Does it read 260 always? if so try taqpping on it lightly and if it still is stuck, replace thye guage.

What is the gmc safari 1997 engine typical temperature

That would depend on the thermostat it has in it. Typically full operating temperature should be 195 degrees.

2003 GMC Envoy Service Engine light on. OBD2 Code is P0128

Ah the famous P0128.....It's 1 of 2 things. If your fan is not engaged constantly (would sound like an airplane or big rig everytime you step on the gas) and is working properly, that rules out the fan clutch. The other common problem is the thermostat. Replace the thermostat and the code will go away. Engine temperature needs to be at 210 degrees on these engines. If the fan clutch is constantly engaged, it's cooling the engine off constantly and won't get up to 210 fast enough. If it's the thermostat, it's stuck open and isn't allowing the coolant to properly heat up in time.

Outside temperature reading on my 2009 Chevy Silverado truck is always 4-8 degrees lower than the actual outside temperature.

the outside temperature sensor on vehicles takes the temperature of the air about 2-3 inches off the ground, that close to the ground it might be a couple degrees colder than the temperature on the thermometer you have mounted in the window of your house.

How to reset Service Engine light? 2003 Envoy ... Autozone says engine temp too low was reason for light. That's silly. I have gages ... it runs at 180 degrees. I just want the light off.

Ok replace the thermostat which is stucked open, cuz the computer will not go into open loop unless the engine reaches normal operating temperature. You can disconnect the battery, to reset it, but untill you replace the thermostat, the check engine light will pop up again. Good luck
