Question about 2000 Dodge Durango

2 Answers

My 2001 Dodge Durango has headlights flashing like Moris Code. Took it to Dealership and they replace the headlight switch/$299.00/Drove it home tonight/they're still flashing and the gaslight came on (low fuel) and the ding sound kept dinging until I stopped for fuel and it went off. Any ideas at all? I've had this thing checked out multiple times; Pep Boys unwired a trailer hitch that U-Haul had installed and it was pretty much melted through. Helped for a day or so then it started again. When I would turn on the headlights the dash lights would not dim and there is a clicking noise coming from the around the light switch or there was; I didn't notice if it was still doing it.

I just used my spare key and the lights did not flash! Then I used the "regular key" and they began flashing immediately. So, what is the problem with the key?

I just used my spare key that rarely gets used and the flashing lights stopped! I tried the old key again and flashing began again! What is wrong with the old key?

I don't know if the pcm and body control module were scanned for any codes. The dealership did order a central timer module. Be here at the end of the week.

I dont think it has anything to do with that wiring for the trailer. but i have ran into this one time--and it just so happened to occur After the battery was disconnected. chrysler used this perticular pcm for several vehicles and disabled the anti theft for the truck. when battery was disconnected the pcm went back to factory preset mode and horn and lights flashed on and off. my question is, did they scan the pcm and body control module 4 any codes? may just be a reprogram issue 4 the anti theft.....just a thought

sounds like to me you just solved your own problem . the vehicle thinks its being stolen due to a faulty key.good job --not a lot of people will go that far to experiment like you just did. have a new key made and reprogrammed and u should be set to go!

i got your responce --sorry it took me a bit to reply, sounds like you found the problem yourself tho. it has to be a bad key. if the other key works just fine, the second key makes the lights flash---the chip went bad in the key and the theft module thinks its being stolen.

2001 dodge durango headlights keep flashing fast, changed bulb & checked ground. Where are the relay switches?

The circuit has a central timer module that is behind the driver side kick panel. The module would need to be tested with a meter.

2001 Dodge Durango, headlights flicker

I had a similar problem on my 2001 Caravan. Turned out to be a loose connection between the frame control module and the fuse box. I unscrewed the frame/front control module from the fuse box and bent the tabs slightly to make better contact. Then tighten down the module securley. Need star driver to loosen screws
