SOURCE: 2006 pont grand prix when car gets warm it starts

P0300 is a code for multiple misfire. Which could be created to the P0128
P0128 PCM detected that the engine has not reached the required temperature level within a specified amount of time after starting the engine. The intent of the P0128 code is to indicate a faulty thermostat.
A code P0128 may mean that one or more of the following has happened:

  • Low engine coolant level
  • Leaking or stuck open thermostat
  • Faulty cooling fan (running too much)
  • Faulty coolant temperature (ECT) sensor
  • Faulty intake air temperature (IAT) sensor
Past experience indicates that the most likely solution is to replace the thermostat. However here are some suggestions on troubleshooting and repairing a P0128 OBD-II code:
  • Verify coolant strength & level
  • Verify proper cooling fan operation (check if it's running more than it should). Replace if necessary.
  • Verify proper engine coolant temperature (ECT) sensor operation, replace if necessary.
  • Verify proper intake air temperature (IAT) sensor operation, replace if necessary.
  • If the above items check out good, replace the thermostat
Good luck and hope this helps. keep me posted, be glad to know your car is running 100% again soon.

SOURCE: I have a 2003 Pontiac

Hi,

The trouble codes are for the left front and right front wheel speed sensors. You should open your hood and in front of the engine on the drivers side under the air filter box you will see a silver tube shape object which is the air condition dryer. Look for your main wiring harness that pass near it. The harness can rub on the dryer and cause many different electrical problems including abs problems. If you see the harness rubbing on the dryer you can move the main wiring harness with your hand to see if there are any cut wires. If they are then you will need to repair the wires that are damage and reposition the harness to it will not rub anymore. This is a common problem with the pontiac grand prix.

Good Luck!!

Thanks!!

P2430 Secondary Air Injection System Air Flow/Pressure Sensor Circuit,
The AIR diagnostic uses 3 phases to test the AIR system:

DTCs P0411 and P2430 run during Phase 1
DTCs P2430 and P2440 run during Phase 2
DTC P2444 runs during Phase 3
During phase 2, only the AIR pump is activated. The solenoid valve is closed, this is p2430 and p2440. -The AIR system pressure sensor is stuck. good-day !!

c0040 indicates right front wheel sensor, so problem is more than likely sensor or wiring to it. c0245 indicates wheel speed sensor frequency error. This confirms wheel sensor or wiring.

You most likely have warped rotors. If they are not too worn, machining them should take care of this, and most parts stores can do this.

I have a 2006 Grand Prix that the reduced engine power light came on in. Its been diagnosed as the accelerator pedal to be replaced. We've replaced it and still has the problem. Any ideas?

the throttle position sensor code, if it has been replaced the codes should have been erased at the time it was done, also make sure it is adjusted correctly.

Pont Grand Prix; has 16 pin DRL module, fuse removes DRLs and Auto-ON (there is also a fuse for air bags, SRS)
believe most recent GM models (99+), use a VCR tape sized DRL module that will be under the dash, behind radio, glove box, over pedals, etc are typical locations for your car in various years.. There are two 8 pin connectors to it

2006 grand prix stalls and will not restart till cool. no codes good fuel pressure??

This is usually the crank position sensor going bad...the part is about $35. Most of these require the removal of the harmonic balancer to switch out this sensor...codes are not always thrown to indicate this...
