If you are experiencing issues with timing (backfiring, dieseling, rough idling, power loss, etc...) your timing chain might indeed need adjustment or replacement. If your vehicle is working without issues it's highly unlikely.

It's generally recommended to replace timing belts at 60000-75000 miles. A broken timing belt can do major damage to an engine. It's a personal call as some people have run 100k miles without the timing belt failing but the part itself is subject to failure before then.

Does the oil pan need to be removed on a 2002 Mazda Tribute V6 in order to replace the timing chain and crankshaft seal?

It does not have to be completely removed but it has to be loosened off so that the timing cover can be removed to get to the chain . The seal is in the timing cover so it is only necessary for the chain.

My 2001 mazda tribute does not have fog lights on it now how hard is it to put them on

It is a fairly simple job, as long as you follow the instructions that come with the fog lights. That is, if you are going to get aftermarket lights. If you get factory lights from a dealership, there may not be any instructions or mounting brackets with them. There are many different styles of fog lights that would look good on your Mazda. And the aftermarket lights come with everything needed for the installation. Take your time, do the job one step at a time, and pay extra close attention to the wiring instructions. Good luck.

Solution to getting the timing chain correct

For the 2001 Mazda Tribute:
Unspecified 2.0L DOHC In-Line 4-Cylinder or 3.0L DOHC V6.

Click on the following Direct/Free Link. It has the Timing Belt Diagrams including some Instructional and Directional Diagrams you will need.
I strongly suggest you purchase a Haynes or Chilton Manual available at most auto parts stores for around $25-$30. You will need it for: in-depth procedural and directional information, including torque specifications for every bolt/nut that will need to be removed.
Let me know if this helped, or if you have additional information or questions. Feel Free to contact me at FixYa.com!
