Question about 2001 Honda Accord

I can't find the valet switch on my 2001 Honda Accord

I don't believe the alarm system is aftermarket; i think it's factory-installed, and i read one person's post online who said they didn't think the factory alarm system had a valet switch.
so how am i supposed to prevent the horn from going off when i attach jumper cables?
thanks.

been there done that. fortunately i solved my own problem: the horn was going off as soon as i connected jumper cables, so i kept the remote for the alarm in my hand and as soon as the circuit was closed, i pushed the "unlock" button on the remote. that did the trick.

Look under dash above brake pedal......it should be mounted there. Or in some rare cases can be taped into wire harness .....not on lower edge of dash.

How do I disable my car alarm in my 91 Honda accord dx I dont have the stock keys new ignition the car just kills and wont restart for a while and runs roughbafter driving it for awhile

I don't believe that the 1991 Accord DX had a Honda accessory alarm option, but regardless, factory or aftermarket, it was wasn't installed at the factory, it was installed at the dealer or an aftermarket store. Just remove it, and reattach any cut wires.

If your car came with the Prestige Alarm unit, there is a possibility that the alarm box got deprogrammed or burned, and left the anti-theft activated. Use the Valet Switch to deactivate the alarm permanently, and see if the car starts. For some reason unknown to me, it takes a couple of cycles of crank/ take the ignition switch off, crank again for the Valet Switch to work. In my 98 Accord, this micro-switch is installed in the left front kicker panel, but there is no guarantee that it will be in the same place in you accord, since it is a dealer installed option

"Factory Alarm keeps going off" No matter how many

There is a good probability that you have the PRESTIGE alarm. There is a hidden microswitch somewhere around the left kicker panel. It is also called the "valet" switch. It will disarm the alarm, but still allow the remote to unlock the doors.

I believe that the alarm system in the car is draining the battery also causing the car not to start.....I want to disconnect the alarm system or disarm it but cannot locate the valet switch...my friend...

This sounds like a factory alarm, so it is unlikely that it is draining the battery. Much more common is alternator diodes. diagnosis is pretty easy for a shop, consider using one for this issue.

it SHOULD be installed on the left kick panel where your left foot would hit if you were driving it. if not pull that panel off and look there the installer might have had a lazy day or left his drill at home but its there somewhere

Where is the valet switch for honda accord 2002 lx?

Hi,
Does the vehicle have an aftermarket alarm system? Is the valet switch for this what you are looking for? If so, it depends entirely on who installed it as where they have put it, although it's usually under the dash on the driver’s side. Some alarms have different sequences that you have to go through to put the alarm into valet mode; it's not usually just a switch that you flick. Best to pop into an alarm or stereo installer and see if they can spot it for you, or if the car is immobilized, find out what sort of alarm it is and call an installer for the info on the valet procedure.

Thank You for contacting Fixya.com

Hopefully i haven't just wasted my time and yours, but i can't think of any other type of valet switch, and your description was pretty minimal. Cheers, Mark.

I hope you can help me!!!!!!

It sounds as though you are having a security (alarm) system issue. Does this vehicle have an aftermarket alarm installed? If you recently bought this car, it might have one that you don't even know about. Try locking and unlocking both front doors with the key. If the vehicle has a factory alarm system, this is the usual way to deactivate it. If that does not work, look up behind the dash on the driver's side. An aftermarket alarm system is usually pretty easy to spot as it'll have a bunch of wires connected to it that are usually wrapped in black tape and you can tell it's not factory installed. If this is the case, there will be a valet switch somewhere in the vicinity of the driver's kick panel. To turn the alarm off, turn the ignition switch to the on position and press the valet switch. This should turn the alarm off.
