Question about 1996 Chevrolet Suburban

1 Answer

The 96 suburban wont start, unless you put a little gas in the Carb. The fuel pump is less than 2 years old. Do you think it could be the fuel pump regulator, if so is it located on top by carb?

If you dont have scanner. You need to check battery voltage, not less than 11v but morethan 12v...then check for starter clicking and engine is carnking then u proceed to check for sparkplug have a current or none. ..if ok then check for fuel pressure..try to on the ignition switch and u can hear a sounds from a fuel pump if no sounds check the fuel pump relay and each electrical. .if it is ok and still not start remove the intake duct and put a little amount of gasoline to the throttle body and this time ur engine will be start smoothly..

well with a motor this big the fuel you had for a 40 mile range might just start the engine ,i would suggest that you put another 2 gallons minimum and then try again and see what happens

I have a 1987 mighty max truck that has been sitting for years. The motor turns over but wont start unless I pour fuel into carb. Where do I start to make this truck run again?

I expect the carb has become heavily fouled, old gas will quickly gum things up. I'd drain the tank, add new fuel and rebuild the carb. Also insure you have fuel to the carb (possible failed fuel pump)

If I may help further, please let me know,
Tom

hello, usually when gas sets in carb for a long time it turns into a varnish, you will have to take carb apart and clean all jets out, even the fuel pump may be clogged up, you will probably have to rebuild carb, unless you have access to air line to blow any and all jets, pretty much all passage ways, power jets, in other words you have a carb problem, you may need a new one, unless you have a strong solvent, that will break away any varnish or gum up.

Have the crank shaft sensor check out. This is a beginning of the problem. After that it will never be able to start since the ECM doesn't know what the position of the piston reported through the crankshaft sensor to turn on the proper ignition. Good luck.

1979 ford f250 wont start unless i put gas in CARB

first of all you have no carb its fuel injected, at least you know you have spark, now do you have fuel pressure??, is the fuel pump working?/ if you have fuel and pressure then you have to check signal at the injectors, so if you have fuel pressure and a good injector pulse the next step is to check the injectors, this may require removal, good luck

Wont start or stay on

From the info you provided, it seems like it is not getting constant supply of fuel. I think that don't have a carburator. It has a TBI(Throttle Body Injector. You should hear a faint humming noise at the back coming from within the fuel tank when you turn the key on. Thats the fuel pump. Your fuel pump may have gone out.

Put a fuel pump in. Remove right front tire to get to it. Be sure it has fuel in the tank and not a faulty gage .
