On top of the blower motor where the electric wires are, you should see a plug end! unplug that wire plug, and you will have 2 smaall 1/4 inch screws ( 1 on each side of the prongs)! remove the 2 screws, and then remove that plate (the resistors will be on the inside of that plate.

SOURCE: 1998 ford contour blower motor not working

I have a 1998 Ford Contour. Believe it or not the ABS and the Blower Motor share the same fuse. It's a yellow 60 amp and you have to take off the battery to get at it. Of course this happened twice in the 6 years I had the car, both times in the dead of winter. Tires Plus in Pennsauken, NJ replaced it. Other than that, no complaints with my Contour.

SOURCE: 2006 Ford Explorer XLT the Blower Fan only works on 4 and 3 Sp

Look under the dash on passenger side and just to the left of the blower motor housing you will see the 4WD control module.Remove the 2 screws holding the module and let it hang down and your resistors are behind this.Remove the 2 screws holding the resistors and remove.
Now I am assuming you have manual climate control and not electonic.

SOURCE: where is the resistor in a 2001 ford explorer

You have to remove your glove box and it is behind there. Here is a picture of where it is. This particular picture is from a 4 X 4 so if you don't have that it won't have the 4X4 part. Let me know if you have any more questions. Thanks for using FixYa!5877c26.jpg

More often than not, the Blower Motor Resistor would be at fault. It controls the speed of the Blower Motor by varying its speed revolutions. The Blower Motor Resistor is located under the hood under the heater hoses. You can purchase one from E-bay, Amazon, or check your local Auto Parts store(try to get the best price). To get an idea of where the Blower Motor Resistor is situated and what it would take to replace it, go to www.youtube.com. Hello my name is Sean and I have a 2002 ford focus wagon with a 2.0 motor. The blower fan for the heat and air has stoped working. I have ordered a new blower fan and resistor but havent received yet. I...

the fan motor is maybe bad, disconnect it (the motor) and put in new fuse, if its ok, then the motor is bad. the resistor only handles speeds lower than HIGH. so replace the motor first, then try it, if all speeds work, then the resistor is OK.

Check for battery power and ground at the blower motor connector. If power and ground are both present, replace the blower motor. If not, you will have to trace the blower circuits, including the blower motor resistor. (second most likely cause)

Blower motor will not work after replacing fuse in passenger fuse box

If the blower work on the highest setting, you have a bad resistor. If the blower will not work at all bang the blower motor with your hand. If it fails to work, then replace the blower motor.

Rear cooling and heating blower motor does not work

its not in the headliner. its under the side panel in the rear on drivers side. you half to remove the panel on the inside just above the rear tire. since the moter runs sometime i would replace the blower motor resistor first cause these are known for going bad and its in the same area as the blower motor. this resistor controls the fan speeds and if its gone bad the fan dont run right. plus its alot cheaper than blower motor. once you have replaced the resistor you can turn the fan on and see if its a fixya before putting the panel back in place.

Blower problem

The blower motor resistor:
  • is located on the heater core and evaporator core housing near the blower motor.
  • has three resistor elements mounted on the resistor board to provide four blower motor speeds.
  • depending on the blower motor switch position, series resistance is added or bypassed in the blower motor circuit to decrease or increase blower motor speed.
  • has an overheating device (thermal limiter) that will open the resistor coil when the temperature reaches approximately 184°C (363°F) , interrupting the blower motor operation in all speeds except high.
  • is serviced as an assembly. The thermal limiter cannot be reset and is not serviceable.
REMOVAL
  1. Lower the glove compartment.
  2. Remove the screws and position aside the 4x4 control module.
  3. Remove the blower motor resistor.
4 Disconnect the electrical connector. 5 Remove the screws and the blower motor resistor. INSTALLATION
  1. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
