Question about Jaguar X-Type
1998 jaguar XK8 Will let the ignition turn with key but there is no response
like as if battery was dead ( it's not ) and with the ignition turned it still will not allow me to move the shift lever from park. Then when turn key off I get these ding , ding sounds that I don't recall hearing befor (different sound than normal ) thinking security setting or neutral safety switch but then realized that over a 32 hour period the battery was completely discharged.
I replaced battery but that didn't change anything and then again it was dead in a day and a half. Batteries are charged now. I've also tried useing the key and locking the door and unlocking the door several times to reset things if there is anything to reset, same with the trunk. No Luck. Help.

if the coolant light is on or comes on when driving you MUST let the car cool down at lest 1 hour before doing anything, after this cool down time lift the hood [u.s.a.] or bonnet [uk] looking from the front of the car on the right hand side towards the back of the engine compartment is the coolant header tank, about 5inch square black in color [u.s.a.] colour [uk] with a large screw top and some rubber pipes coming from it,this should be topped up with coolant right to the neck of the screw cap when you remove the cap to top up the coolant unscrew it slowly as it may be under pressure you don't want hot 212F[u.s.a.] 100C [uk] coolant in your face do you.good luck.

on the base of the antenna mast is a chrome nut (14mm?) unsrew that, then turn radio on , it will eject the guide cable. then insert the new cable, turn radio off and wait like 15sec then the motor will take in the new cable then put the chrome nut back on> thats it

Hi what is happening is that your turn off your car and left the wheels turned to one side and specially if your car is parke in a hill what you have to do is to force the steering wheel to the same direction of your wheels this will free up the ignition switch it is going to be hard let me tell you but it will work and this is why your shift don't work once you have the ignition switch free then your shift will work again

Sorry to say but it's probably the BCM (body control module) that's going in her car. The BCM controls everything inside your car, from the gauges, locks, daytime running lamps, ABS... and yes the security system. I have a 2003 L200 which had the same problem and I had to replace the BCM at some cost ($400-$600) depending on where you go. The L-Series Saturns seem to have a problem with their BCMs and it seems that it's pretty prevalent. Unfortunately it will only get worse as time goes on and it's not something that you can do yourself as it needs to be programmed by the dealer. You also will need to get your remotes reprogrammed as well with the new BCM. Hope this helps.
