Yes you can. if you don't have one you can also get a screw driver into the hood latch release through the grill. This is harder than it sounds but I have done it before

Yes, most likely ; but only if you knew where to place it and what to do with it to manipulate the linkage.

Does someone have a diagram for use of slim jim on 2004 Suburban?

I do have a set of slim jims and on new cars (2002 or newer) with power locks will sense taht the car is in lock mode and will automatically relock the door if you try to manual release a lock.

After using slim jim car door will not open from outside or inside

You probably knocked the door linkage off during the slim jum operation, You will need to remove the inner door panel and re-connect the door handle linkage. Hopefully you did not break the plastic clip.

be carefull using the slim jim there are lots of wires and a very expensive door module in there you dont want to break. save time and money and call dealer in a.m and get door key cut or call a lock smith.

I have an 1992 Chevy Caprice Bubble and somebody tried to break in to it so i cant use the key is there another way to get in to it..??

  • Did they try to break into every door? If they screwed up every lock your gonna have to Slim Jim it. There is always breaking the window out but just Slim Jim it. Can use a coat hanger with a tiny hook at the end bent into it as well. Take and wedge the window seal so you can see down there and take the Slim Jim and grab that latch. Not to hard really.

Locked out of my mustang. Have a slim jim. how does it work?

Lots of things inside your door that a slim Jim can destroy. But basically slide it between the window and the rubber seal at the bottom of the glass. The idea is to hook onto the door lock linkage and pull up or push down. I'd really recommend letting a professional do it with modern lockout tools. Very easy to break stuff with that tool.

My wife locked our keys in our car its a 2002 how does the inside of the door look, or what do I have to do to slim jim the door open? if you got a pic of the inside of the door that would be a lot easier...

You will need two plastic wedges and a piece of stiff wire (wire coat hangars work remarkably well) or a slim jim.
Insert the wedges between the metal portion of the driver door and the window to allow easier access for the slim jim/wire.
Slide it to the location of the lock bar. Hook the lock bar and yank to the right. This should actuate the locking lever and unlock the door.

How do you unlock a 2002 Ford F-150 non-power locks door, without a key ?

You'd need a slim jim or a coat hanger and basically break into the truck.

How can i slim jim the door? (locked my keys

with out the right tools it will be verry hard also you can break your glass or knock a lock rod off.

THE best way to do this is if you have power locks find somthing you can use as a wedge EXAMPLE;screw the wedge between the dood and the car you may have to pry it open a little. now get a coat hanger and push the power lock button.

Passenger door will not open. Checked the locks all fine. Seems the cable broke at the door latch. How do I get the door open to work on this?

Body shops will attempt to use a "slim jim", but on a door that has had the linkage drop like on yours, knowledge of how the door mechanism looks is invaluable because there will be less places to grab with the slim jim. Subaru or a Japanese auto repair center will have someone that will be able to do this for you if you aren't successful.
