Power door locks not working

The power door locks and power seats are not working And the alarm system will sound but, will not kill the engine. Everything was working fine until two days ago. The alarm will sound, but it will not lock the doors and the power seats will not move.

I had the same problem with now power to windows, mirrors and seat. The common soulution is the orange and or black wire in the boot have broken between the door and post.

SOURCE: Power Door Lock Problem

The last post by maddog1321 was exactly what I had with my right rear door. The electric locks would not lock and unlock, and you almost couldn't do it manually without my feeling I was about to break something. I took the door panel off, oiled everything and got no relief. Finally, I saw the above post and drilled out the aft-most pop-rivet. THE WINDOW WORKED PERFECTLY! I didn't drill out the forward (closest to the handle) pop-rivet because I wanted to do one at a time so the solenoid would not fall out of place. I then put a new pop-rivet in place of the one I drilled out. I then reinstalled everything and the locks work like new.

The Alarm on my Mercedes ML320 sounded every night, then it started doing it more often, Showed it to the dealer he says it's the 'Tow Sensor', that needs to be repaced. $700, down the drain. I have already started hating this car, it eats $500-600, every 6 months...

If your alarm went off, it could be that someone had tried to break into your car. They most likely may have cut some of the wires inside your door with what ever device they may have been using. Look for evidence between the bottom of the windows and doors where the problem is. If not, then it is possible that your automatic window assemblies are malfunctioning. Do you hear the motors run on the windows when you go up or down with the switch? I also have a Pacifica, 2005, however no window problems yet.

Why does my doge caravan doors lock when u start to warm it up as soon as you close the door you get locked out. Or when u have it started as soon as driver door closes the whole van locks?


You must have a "After Market Alarm" or something similar. The factory Auto door lock system doesn't lock the doors until the vehicle reaches 18 mph approximately.
So what I am saying is the Add-On Door Lock/Alarm System is malfunctioning - however some of those aftermarket systems can be programmed to lock doors with the engine running and Driver's door closed (they assume you will be sitting in the driver's seat at that time) It varies depending on which manufacturer built the system. I have seen on some of those systems they provide a small loopwire on the Module that can be cut to disable the Auto Door Lock feature - you might need the install manual to know which one.

Where is the fuse box on my '99 Durango SLT 5.2?


. most likely you need to change the remote battery. It's responcable for many things working correctly. my daughters car locked on her and the alarm sounded and had to disconnect battery in her car to get alarm to stop. when a theft is in process the vehicle takes over and don't allow it to crank and the radio also stops working along with other things. so try battery first in remote.

Starting System
The function of the starting system is to crank the engine at a speed fast enough to allow the engine to start. Heavy cables, connectors and switches are used in the system because of the large currents required.
The starting system consists of a gear reduced starter motor, battery, remote control switch (ignition switch) and relay.
Vehicles equipped with automatic transaxle have a transmission range sensor attached to the circuit which prevents operation of the starter motor unless NEUTRAL or PARK are selected.
Vehicles equipped with a manual transaxle have a start inhibit switch in the starter control circuit, which prevents operation of the starter motor unless the clutch pedal is in the applied position.

The anti - theft protection system provides protection from unauthorized entry into the passenger compartment.
The system is controlled by an anti - theft alarm control. When armed, unauthorized entry into the vehicle is detected by lamp switches.
Once triggered, the system flashes the headlamps, the parking lamps, the alarm indicator, and sounds the horn. In addition, the starter circuit is disabled to prevent starting the vehicle until the system is disarmed.
System Arming
The system will be armed by the remote entry transmitter when the following input sequence is followed:
  1. Turn the ignition switch off and remove the key.
  1. Close all doors (unlocked).
  1. Press the LOCK button on a transmitter to lock doors. Alarm warning lamp will turn on.
  1. Wait for the anti - theft warning lamp to turn off.
The system will also be armed when the following input sequence is followed:
  1. Turn the ignition switch off and remove the key.
  1. Open a door. Alarm warning lamp will flash.
  1. Lock doors with power door switches. Alarm warning lamp will now glow steadily.
  1. Close all doors.
  1. Wait for the anti - theft warning lamp to turn off.
Opening any door will activate the alarm after the alarm is armed.
Disarming an Untriggered System
The system can be disarmed by performing one of the following procedures.
  • Driver or RH front door is unlocked with a key.
  • Driver door is unlocked by pressing the UNLOCK button of a remote entry transmitter.
  • If remaining in the vehicle, turn the ignition switch to ON or ACC position.
System Triggering
The armed alarm system will be triggered if any door is opened without using a key or a remote entry transmitter to unlock the door first.
Disarming a Triggered System
Carry out either of the following steps will disarm the triggered alarm system.
  • Driver or RH front door is unlocked with a key.
  • Driver door is unlocked by pressing the UNLOCK button of a remote entry transmitter.
Two minutes and 45 seconds after the system has been triggered, the horns and exterior lamps will shut off automatically. The system will then reset to an armed state and will trigger again if another intrusion occurs.

Passive Anti-Theft System (PATS)
The Passive Anti-Theft System (PATS), known as SecuriLock, is fully passive in operation and requires no special procedures by the driver to arm or disarm the system. It is invisible to normal scrutiny and is operated by a transponder within the key body. This communicates with the module through a transceiver mounted around the ignition switch lock barrel.
The PATS functionality is incorporated within the powertrain control module.
PATS keys contain an electronic device inside, and are physically larger than a non-PATS key.
The transponder code reading is carried out when the key is inserted into the ignition lock barrel, and turned from position 0' to position II' or III' to crank the engine. If the PCM receives the correct code signal, the engine will start. Should the code received not be recognized, the engine will not crank as the PATS is still armed and the engine immobilized.
Anti-Theft Indicator
Whenever the ignition is switched on the anti-theft indicator will remain on for three seconds while the system carries out an initial ignition key-read.
The anti-theft indicator will flash rapidly for three seconds to indicate the PATS has immobilized the vehicle.
For additional information on the PATS fault codes, refer to the Diagnosis and Testing section.

find the alarm underneath the seat or in the hood, cut ff the wires on the alarm system... or find the source of the alarm and cut the power...

Hello, I have a 1995 Intrepid and I have no headlights, no power seats and the electric lock unlocks but won't lock, plus my foglights don't work...the horn, park lights,alarm,flashers all work...please...


try disconnecting the battery for 5 minutes and then reconnecting it. Not likely, but easy to do. Also look for a burned 'fusible link' in the underhood fuse box or a burned large capacity 'fuse'. TH eheadlights and power seats are high current loads. The door lock problem is likely a door switch not connecting--and will not allow the doors to power lock when the computer thinks a door is open.

Also have Autozone, HiLo, O'Reilly's, and other parts stores test the battery and charging system (It is free). A weak battery or charging system causes low voltage, and the electronics do not like low voltage.

Also ask them to 'pull the codes' for the engine computer and transmission computer. also free. Sometimes things happen that do not turn on th 'check engine' lights, but still point to the problems. The entire 'Intrepid' line and twins have integrated computer systems with 'bugs' in them. A good friend gave up trying to get his fixed--and just quit using the alarm system--the trunk would open after about 1 hour!!. Finally the transmission and its computer started acting up and would start jumping back and forth gears after a few minutes in stop and go traffic. After 3 tear-down , inspect, reassemble efforts by a good transmission shop, they gave up, replaced the transmission at no cost, and it also did the same thing--confirmaing the problem was in the wiring/computer system. He sold the car.

When I turn the key off, it is like disconnecting the battery.


Does the car have a battery kill switch installed with its alarm system? It sounds as though when you cut off the key it engages the kill switch which removes power from the vehicle when the key is removed and the alarm is tripped.

Car alarm goes off if I lock door by remote, have to lock manual


sounds like it's in theft mode?
try using the fob to lock and unlock the doors 3X then open the drivers door with the key
if that does not work use the kill switch
