Put your key in the door and turn it firmly to the unlock postion... I believe it is to the front of the car... then back to center...
The factory alarm can be armed /disarmed by the key in the door.

SOURCE: can not lock car by key remote . toyota rav 4 53 plate

If your car has an alarm with a separate remote, it is a separate system and it is probably self-arming. When you lock the doors with the key central lock, the alarm gets armed by the RAV4 being OFF and the door locking action. When you unlock the doors with the key, the alarm is still armed because the key is not comunicating with the alarm just the cars factory keyless system.

Not sure about yours, but many will reset by: turn key to "on" and wait 15 minutes or so; shut off, then try to start.

When i try to turn the car on the alarm goes off and the car doesn't start. help

If you can step up to the car and unlock it with the remote and everything is ok until you touch the ign. I'd say door switch. If you unlock the car, but fiddle around a bit before starting, the car has a senile moment and trips off.
But if you can't even use the remote then it sounds like the key isn't recognized by the alarm system. Try a different key, like the valet key- the one without the alarm buttons on it. If that doesn't work I'd say you have to drag the car and EVERY key to the VW stealership to have the alarm recoded

Remote wont work

check the battery in the remote first. if it has a light on it make sure it blinks when you press the button. turn disable the alarm you should be able to turn the key in the drivers door cylinder counter clockwise then clockwise. if none of this works you probably have a bad drivers side door latch.
