SOURCE: Replacing motor in my 2005

Does it look like this? (copy and paste in your address bar)?

If so that is called the plenum gasket, or intake plenum gasket. There are available aftermarket, places like NAPA should have or be able to get them. It is a common gasket to replace because of the necessity to remove the plenum to do a tune-up. NAPA gets about $7 for the gasket.

I got a 1999 Kia Sportage is turning over fine but its not firing and I just put a new fuel filter in it it did wrong but it quit on me is there an external voltage regulator that's not on the alternator...

I see what you are saying to be you either it jumped time try to chabye the distributer calling wires avenue plugs if that is not it then you possibly have a blown head gasket
If the engine won't crank or cranks but does not start, the flex plate between the engine and transmission may be cracked. A cracked flex plate will cause an erratic cranking signal to the powertrain computer

Kia sportage 2000 no acceleration

It is important too identify the following:
1) The source of the exhaust leak
2) The source of the oil leak.
The exhaust leak could turn out to be a bad exhaust gasket, a cracked or loose exhaust manifold, a cracked cylinder head or bad gasket, or related parts. The oil leak could turn out to be the valve cover gasket. A dried out valve cover gasket can cause oil to sit on the spark plugs and have oil leaks. Be sure not to over-fill the oil. A machine shop can find cracks in cylinder heads. If these problems turn out to be ok (and one of those stethoscopes may be helpful) then you could procede to check fuel delivery. (there will be pressure in the lines) A lot of times connectors get corroded. I noticed on this model the sensor for the engine cooling mounted near the thermostat is very sensitive to variation. Same for the air sensors if left loose.

First of all you need to provide information about the type of engine you have in the KIa Sportage. Any KIA CRDi engine is the same as Hyundai CRDi but not all petrol engines are same.

Yes it will turn on light. Replace exhaust manifold only if it is leaking. It could just be loose or damaged gasket or hole or crack pipe.

How do you check the timing on an 01 kia sportage? I know that you can't make adjustments to the timing on a 2001 kia sportage, but I'd like to know what you do to check the timing with a timing light...

Please post the odometer reading on the Sportage.
Most vehicle does not need catalytic converter and O2s until 120,000+ miles.
Before you cause damage to the cyclinder head,YOU MUST get the crack exhaust manifold reslove.
Keep running your truck with a crack exhause manifold will increase the heat on the valve/head.
The term burn valve is cause by un-even and excessive heat to one or more valves.
BAD vavle(s) will bend and not shut correctly. It will cause the end to lose compression when the valve is not shut.
More noticable at higher RPM.
I will do a compression test and see is the compression is holding pressure.
The PSI reading should not be different beyond 20-25 psi between cyclinders.
50 psi below factory spec on all cyclinders will need a engine rebuild soon.
As long as the engine can start it will be with in 3-5 degree from spec. Timing is not your problem.
Please post the odometer and compress test reads and I will follow up on it.
