After you turn it on is there another button called "set" ? If so this will allow the vehicle to maintain its current speed.

SOURCE: 2006 Equinox, T/C light and ABS light on What

The TC and ABS light comes on when on of the 4 wheel motion sensors located behind the drums in the back and behind the rotors in the front are malfunctioning. A diagnostic should tell you which one it is because you have 4 in total. They cost approximately $80 each CAN funds.

SOURCE: 2006 equinox, starter stays engaged past start.

Does not sound normal. A bad solenoid in the starter is most likely the prob. If it makes a grinding sound, that is the starter crank shredding the teeth on the fly wheel. It will ruin the starter, and tear up the fly wheel a bit.

SOURCE: parking brake light stays on. I checked the switch

some makes of car use the light for more than one thing as if any thing goes South with the brakes means you should look at all of the brake system. It could be simple like a bad switch or low brake pedal. Newer cars and trucks use two lights in combination to show there is a problem.

Expect a defective speed sensor. Cruise control engages and disengages according to speed sensor input.

Cruise light won't stay on and if it does cruise won't stay engaged. what's the problem ?

Check the switch that is fitted on the brake pedal as it may be out of adjustment. It is designed to disable the cruise control when you use the brakes.
If your vehicle is a manual there will also be one on the clutch pedal. They are up the top of the pedal towards the pivot point.

My 2006 f150 has new brakes and rotors, fluid full but my dash brake light stays on. Soon as you start it and the whole time you drive. Also the cruise quit too. Once the light went off then the cruise

This sounds like the brake light switch or the control switch on the brake pedal is bad or loose. Check under the dash above the brake pedal there should be one or two switches that tell the brake lights to come on and the cruise control to shut down.

2003 oldsmobile alero v6 -- cruise control stopped working...The cruise on/of button lights up, the green light cruise indicator comes on in the dash panel, but cruise control does not engage when CST SET...

Try checking the small switch at the top of the brake pedal. There may be two one for brake lights and one for the cruise control. To ascertain what is what, pull one wire off and see if brake lights work. If not, then the other switch controls the cruise control disconnect and engage..I you have a DC test light check to see if power is on on both side of the switch with brake pedal up. If so, depress pedal and check power on the other side there should be none, if there is the switch is defective.

How to fix cruise control

Cruise controls can cease to engage if the clutch or brake light cruise switch are out of adjustment. If this happens, try placing you foot under the clutch pedal (if equipped) and lift up on it (toward you) and hold it while engaging the cruise. If it now works, it will likely cut out when you remove your foot from under the pedal. Check the brake pedal in an identical fashion. Adjusting the switch at the pedals can often solve he problem. Some vehicles (Honda, Acura, Ford, to name a few) have a plastic insert that mounts in the pedal arm which presses against the switch. These can become brittle and fracture into pieces. My Acura has little pieces of blue plastic on the floorboard around the brake pedal one afternoon and I noticed the cruise didn't work. It was the pieces of the insert that had come to pieces preventing the cruise from coming on. I replaced the insert and no more problem with the cruise.

My 2006 Cobalt LT. The cruise light comes on, but the cruise does not engage.

Check to see if the cable is attached to the throttle body. There should be two small cables, one goes to the gas pedal the other to the cruise control unit.
