no it won't be the coil cause if it were coil it wouldn't start or it would but you would have a rought idle all the time and problems with the car during damp and humid times. check to see if you iac(idle air control) is good or the maf sensor( mass air flow) is good. Also it may be the crank sensor but best thing is if these things are working wrong you may get a check engine light.

Check if the timing advance is working. The vacuum advance on the distributor may be bad. A timing light should show good advance when engine is revved up.

Check for power to the ignition module. That is the most likely part to fail after the coil.

We pulled and replaced spark plugs and distributor cap on a 1985 Nissan Z24 Engine - started once before without cap on but now will not fire again. I need firing settings for distributor and knowlege of...

It started without the distributor cap? That is impossible. I suspect you may have plug wires mixed up. Make sure it is wired as the diagram shows. Also replace the rotor. clay58_39.png

My toyota corolla cs does not want to start properly and its got a jurk can it be the points or the plugs

this could be caused by a number of reasons, most common are: dirty fuel or air filter, plugs, distributor cap, spark plugs, spark plug wires or a poor connection in one of the harness plugs, also be sure to inspect there are no wires touching the exhaust manifold, this could cause a live positive to ground out causing hard starting and jerking, it it also a possibility the fuel pump is on its way out. inspect these areas only if the above doesnt help. hope this helps.

No start with new wires,cap,rotor,plugs.

Check to see if you inadvertantly disconnected the power to the distributor. There is a plug that goes to the base of it.

No spark when trying to start my 1992 Toyota Celica GT. The engine died while I was driving. It will crank over but won't start.

Remove the distributor cap and see if you see a rust colored dust inside. If so, the the distributor is bad and needs to be replaced. The igniter in the distributor is not working properly
