the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

Common problem on BMW's apparently...there are on-line repair services but they are NOT cheap...100-300 bucks. Tough to fix yourself...unles you are a highly skilled techie!

I would get the body shop to pay for the repair. Why did they drain the battery? If it was working when you took it to them and it was not "imedieatly" after picking it up, I would suspect it is there fault. They are going to claim coincidental damage and not their fault. But because they stated that they drained the battery, they must have jump started it and if I were you, I would claim the jump start damaged the nav computer.
If you are unable to get them to pay for it, I would then shop around. On EBay, you can get a nav system for under $1000 so ..... you should be able to save up to $2500
Good luck, Jim

CHECK 5 AMP FUSE TO THE POWER DISTRIBUTION CIRCUIT WHICH SENDS POWER TO THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER.IF FUSE OKAY.EITHER CLUSTER HAS A LOOSE WIRE OR CLUSTER SHORTED OUT.IF CLUSTER IS FAULTY. THE BMW HAS TO REPLACE THE CLUSTER BECAUSE NEW CLUSTER HAS TO BE CODED TO MATCH THE VECHICLE.

The problem sounds like the battery has run down. Even though the ignition is off, things like clocks and the radio draw small amounts of power to retain their settings, and the instrument cluster doesn't draw as much power as the starter. It usually takes about a month or so to drain the battery. Try jump starting the car, or put it on a battery charger for a while.
