The fuel sender unit
is for the gauge to read quantity in tank and is usually incorperated in the pump unit ,when it stalls does it start straight away again ?its more likely to be related to air/fuel , spark ,vacuum at the engine so i'd do a few basic checks there ie air intake pipe not collapsing , air filter ,plugs , vacuum pipes etc are in good condition , also fuel pump relay may be breaking down , as you see there are a few things it could be , the OBD may give you a clue so have that read but pre1996 vehicles this was pretty basic and would need a mechanic with the right reader to do this or log onto a chevvy forum as these places are full of knowledge specific to chevvy, good luck

SOURCE: Fuel Sending unit on a 2000 Chevy Silverado

if it is the fuel level sending unit you will have to replace the pump because they are a 1 piece assambly. it will be a task to change too as you will need to either remove the truck bed or drop the fuel tank to get to it.

Try replacing the intank plug-in for the fuel pump. They have been known to go bad even though they look okay.

take the gas filter off, and blow through it, if it feels restricted, replace it.

Start with the fuel filter. Sounds like its on its way to the big filter bin in the sky.

So..... you replaced the pump because it stalls, or it ran ok, and you replaced the pump and now it stalls? Stalls going 50 mph? idle? hot? cold? ck eng light on? codes? Fuel pressure?

OXYGEN SENSOR OR FUEL PUMP?

Change the fuel filter, check the fuel pressure, then pull the tank and replace the pump if the pressure is below spec.

Fuel gauge problem

sending unit on the fuel pump in the tank is stuck, and needs to be replaced. its expensive, but that will fix your issue. its the housing around the pump that has the float arm on it. you can try to free the float arm by removing your pump assembly, but cant guarantee its any good after being stuck

I would replace the idle air control valve, or at least check the connector and wiring very carefully. If you have a scanner, go to live data when the engine is warm to see if you can read what the valve is doing. There is a test procedure at the link below.
