Engine removal and instalation for dodge ram 50 4x4 5speed

You need a manual to do this. Lots of info to follow. Quick version is. Drain the oil and coolant. Remove the starter, transmission, converter, engine mounts, electrical plugs, vacuum lines, Fan shroud and fan, (depending on year), intake plenum, and drop the A/C compressor. There is plenty more that needs to come off.

A cannot get the top center bolt out of the bell housing into the engine block on my 4l60e transmission in my 2001 chevy silverado 4x4

to remove the upper bell housing center bolts on a 4L60E (not an E if it's 4wd by the way but we'll go with that for now)
you will have to unbolt the transmission from the crossmember and drop it down which will in turn tilt your motor back and allow you better access to those two top bolts. Put your two bottom bolts back in finger tight before you drop the transmission down though or you stand the chance of breaking the bell housing when it's tilted back. you can also use a floor jack on your crank pulley on the front of the motor. Jack up on it and the motor will tip back but not if you have the transmission bolted in place still. hope this helps

I have a 1987 ford ranger 4x4 and im trying to figure out how to remove the shifter linkage from the tranny to drop the tranny

Hi danielh_04,
There are two different manual transmissions for that year but both processes are about the same. You need to remove the screws from the shifter boot and pull it back to gain access to the top of the transmission through the floor board. You should see a cover with bolts. Remove the bolts and pull the cover off. Then you want to carefully pull up on the shifter. The lever, shim and the bushing should come out. After you get it removed, you can cover the hole with a rag and drop the transmission. Good luck,if you need anything else, let me know,Chuck.

Do you have to drop the transfer case when you change transmissions on a 94 GMC long bed extended cab pickup 4x4 with teh 6.5 turbo desil

no you should not have to drop it. there should be a slip yoke with the shaft leading from the transmission to the transfer case. when you remove that and support the transfer case there will be plenty of room to move the transmssion back away from the engine to remove it
