02 rendezvous won't move in any gear is it the transmission could it be electrical?

I would think it is time to see a transmission shop and have them diagnose your problem. This beyond my scope of knowledge, sorry.

Noise in differential car don't move

stripped gears in your differential or your ****** start the car put in gear and have some one look at the drive shaft to see if it is rotating you have to put it in a lift

My 2002 Oldsmobile Intrigue will start, but it won't move. Someone told me it was my transmission that went out, could it be this or something else? Problem happened at 180,000 miles. The mechanic told...

  • I don't know about reasonable. I don't know how they can assess something they have not seen with a price like that unless they are gunning for a full transmission replacement which is shady, in my opinion. Some other possibilities should have been voiced. Yes it could be the transmission needs replaced but there are some things to consider and check first.
  • Have you checked the transmission fluid level yet? Low fluid will butterfly the transmission.
  • Fluid over 50,000 miles needs replaces as well. Don't do this yet unless you get the transmission going or it may be a waste of money. If you get it going again and the miles call for it then flush the transmission fluid.
  • When is the last time you changed the transmission filter and gasket (sold as a kit)? A really clogged filter can inhibit your vehicle like that and make it not drive.
  • Open the hood and look at the transmission linkage. Now have someone get into the car and put their foot on the brake and drop it into gear. Do you see the linkage (on top of the transmission) move back and forth as they switch gears? If not then the linkage is hung up somewhere. If not then the linkage may be fine.

  • These are some things to look at before you go for the new transmission. I might suggest you get the opinion of a transmission shop first or at least the opinion of someone willing to do a little diagnosing first.

I had to change my head gasket on my 2001 VW Passat. That went great but know when I try to put back my timing belt it will not start. I have tried everything. I have alligned all the marks and still...

After you aligned the timing marks and tightened up the tensioner pulley, did you re-check your timing marks? Usually when you tighten the tensioner it will pull the cam and crank out of alignment. Line up the crankshaft first and then check to see where your cam gear is. If it is not lined up, loosen the tensioner and move the cam gear ahead to line it back up. If it doesn't line up perfectly then go AHEAD until the marks line up and put the belt back on. If the gear is on the mark and the belt teeth don't line up, move the gear ahead until you can get the belt on,but no more than a full tooth on the belt. Tighten your tensioner and check again. At most the cam sprocket should only be off about 1/2 tooth from the marks and it should be ahead not behind. Re-align your distributor to #1 and it should start. Hope this helps.

Trust me, you DO NOT want to replace your balancer with a solid piece. The rubber in the original serves to dampen firing pulses and crankshaft twist. With a solid balancer the engine will shake itself to pieces even if you don't feel it. DON"T DO IT!!! I know a lot of Mitsubishi forums and resellers push the solid balancers, but they are dead wrong. The rubber isolated balancers are made that way FOR A REASON! If you insist on continuing, yes, the engine will spin when you tighten the bolt if you use a wrench, but should not affect timing if the belt is installed properly. Best way to tighten the nut is with an air impact gun. If it's a manual trans car, put it in gear and have someone stand on the brakes HARD while you tighten the nut. If the belt is off the car, and the balancer moves, you will have to realign ALL the timing makes, a VERY difficult job on a 3.0 Mitsu. I know, I own one!!! An alternative way to lock the engine from turning is to insert a bolt and nut between the cam gears. I can't remember what size I used, so it may take a bit of trial and error. A couple pieces of duct tape on the bolt will keep it from gouging the cam gears.

Advice to use a automatic shift

There is no need to put it in N position, in fact it is ******* the drive train parts to do that, just leave it in D all the time when going forward.
