When you say "pull" I assume you mean it wont go foward..
1st thing -check the trani fluid while the engine is running in park..
The tranies in these trucks are known to give out.. Reverse is usually run on the 3rd gear band.. It could mean that the band for 1st gear is damaged.. Could also be a vacume & or modulator issue.. Some trani shops give free estimates..

hey, im not a professional but ive dealt with crappy a4ld's for about two years. just from what youve said it sounds to me like youre pump may have gone. it happened on my first one. if you remove the bellhousing it is directly behind it. there are 6 or so bolts. a new one can be purchased at cobra transmissions, however if the pump seems intact it could be a million other things. if i were you and you have some know how, buy a stick shift ranger and swap it out. its really not hard. if you have any questions email me at email@example.com good luck

as you are shifting you feel the lever snap into gear wich that is where that gear actualy is but you are seeing the indicator on the column is not on the chosen gear that means the indicator on the column needs some adjustment to match the indicator with the lever position

SOURCE: 1994 ford ranger, No Reverse
The most common reason for no reverse in this model is either a pressure loss or broken band. The valve body gasket has gotten brittle and broken away thus losing pressure to the reverse servo or the reverse servo has had a seal fail and can't press the rear band or the rear band has broken and can no longer squeeze.
