Hi Andrew, I'll try my best to help but this can be a lot of things on your car that can cause this problem, but from experience with working on Intrepids with dieing problems. I would tell you to replace the CAM and Crank Sensors and see what happens. In no means I'm I telling you this will fix your problem, but is what I have ran across more than anything else causing dieing problems. It could be the PCM, Coil Pack, or even something else bringing down the BUS circuit. BUT, I'm just saying if it was my vehicle thats where I would start. The CAM and CRANK both and see what happens. Once you have the car started do you get rough idling or the needle of the tachometer does not stay in one spot? You may need to inspect the Idle Air Control valve if that is the case. It may need cleaning or you may have to replace it. It is located at the intake manifold.

Below is a sample picture but the prices vary.

I would recommend to have a scanner connected to the car to check if there are error saved in the computer. Some shops would let you borrow them. You may also inspect the engine for loose vacuum hoses and wires.

check fuel pressure make sure they are within specs. then if it is , very possible that you a problem with ignition module. this module is known to fail, and my experience using rebuilt is not good it took 6 unit before we got a good one. good luck

When my car warms up it dies

Hi Andrew,there can be a number of factors associated with this problem but the first one can be your fuel pump failure. When the pump is still cold it will function perfectly but when it warms up,it will loose pumping pressure leading to your car to die out.

i suggest you check your fuel pump pressure before looking any futhure.

2000 dodge intrepid wont stay running

Have fuel pressure tested in both situations. I've seen fuel pumps quit once they get heated up, then when they cool, pump again. Perhaps try WD40 sprayed in to throttle body inlet when no start, and that will tell you if it's a fuel delivery problem. Just remove air cleaner intake hose at front of throttle body, and open throttle and spray for a second or 2 then try to start. If it fires up and runs for a second or 2, then it's a lack of fuel issue.

Chances are its something electrical, but thats a big list.
You'll have to rule out a few things and check for spark and fuel pressure when it won't start.

Hey Dennis,, DON"T BECOME A PARTS REPLACER..(some people who "call themselves mechanic's" are just that!),.. .take this Dodge to a qualified professional... talk to them..
You say warm... do you mean full running temp?? .if so, you may be experiencing a vapor lock,, fuel "boils" when the engine is hot.. when it cools its no longer hot enough to cause this..(S.W.A.G.)

Sounds like vapor lock. In laymans terms the engine heat causes the fuel flow to stop. Once everything cools off the truck starts. Insulating around the fuel line seems to be the solution. Try aluminum foil. Or perhaps a reroute of the fuel line to get it away from direct engine heat.

After car warms up it starts to miss and wont start back

bad ignition control they get hot and loose connection could be a bad crank sensor also...... when it warms up and wont start spray them with brake cleaner let that evaporate spray again and let evaporate this cools them down then try to start the car if it starts you have found your problem
