Question about 2010 Nissan Sentra 2.5

Open Question

2010 Sentra will start if I short the starter to the solenoid. Swapped the battery for a new one. Dash lights up fine. This is an AT car. I checked the fusible links. Is there a relay somewhere I'm not finding?

SOURCE: 83 280z smoked a fusible link dont know why or how to fix ?

the main fuseable link comes off at the battery and is abig hefty thing if you are blowing that there is a major problem somewhere ,if you go to the fuse box you probably find the engine fuse is blown and that is why it wont start ,BUT be VERY careful bypassing fuses ,they are there to protect from major damage

2004 Nissan Sentra SE-R cranks but won't start!

It is not a problem of sensor as it is not showing any dashboard light, neither it seems to be a problem of battery as battery gets charged after driving if the alternator is working fine or otherwise it won't start at all after overnight standing. It could be a problem of starter solenoid as it has copper windings and when the copper winding gets old it functions intermittently. I am sharing a video that will explain it better.

check battery for enough cranking power, if battery is below 8 volts, your dash lights will work, but you wont have enough power to start the engine

Replace the solenoid and/or starter as there is a short internally that is allowing the solenoid to engage the pinion and engage the power to the starter armature.. Everything you have mentioned points to a starter problem

Assuming the engine has not siezed, there is a short in the starter circuit. Probably the starter/solenoid, but you can verify. Disconnect the negative battery terminal, then the big red wire from the starter solenoid. Wrap the wire terminal tom prevent shorting, reconnect the battery terminal and try again. If nothing happens this time, replace the starter/solenoid. If short is still present with starter unhooked, trace wire back from starter to find short. Let me know if you have more questions.

you may have a shorted starter solenoid or simply a bad ground conection. make sure that your negative side of the battery is in tight.

Sounds like a connection problem/error. When you replaced the starter solenoid, do you remember how many wires you disconnected and reconnected?

Was there any indication ( sparks, etc) of accidentally causing a short when you replaced the solenoid?

Your initial problem of no start but hearing the click sound is almost a sure fire indication that the starter is NG. If the solenoid clicks, that means that it is applying 12 volts to the starter.

hope this helps Good luck Loringh
