Question about 2004 Chevrolet Cavalier
I am not getting any gas up to the engine. I changed the gas filter and still nothing. When I give a shot of carb cleaner to the intake it kicks over. I checked the fuses and they are OK. I think I need to change gas pump. How long do you think it would take a person that is mechanically inclined to do this job and how hard of a job is it? Also do you have any other Ideas of what my problem might be?
2 hours in proper shop if you have all tools it took me about 6 in a gravel parking lot in the winter with 3/4 of gas still in the tank first you must drop your exhaust from halfway to the end of your car then you must punch out the rivets to drop your heat shield then undo the two straps holding the tank in.straight forward from there. i think theres also a screw or two securing the tubing your gas goes down to enter tank (torx) screws. i hope this helps if you havent already done it.and replaceing heat shield rivets i went to crappy tire and got some big headed short phillips screws couldnt tighten to much or theyd spin right around maybe youll find something better.

It should take you about 4 hours at the most, you'll need a jack for the tank, and you'll need quick disconect tools for the fuel lines. Pump comes out of the tank rather easily. DO NOT USE AN ELETRIC DROP LIGHT WHILE DOING THIS. The risk of spark is great. If you've check the relay, and its ok than you need a fuel pump.
