Question about 2001 Isuzu Rodeo

1 Answer

AC Compressor is out

My compressor went out and I got a $2500 estimate! The mechanic said that Isuzu had changed compressors or something and that it was not really a good fix. Anyone else have this problem, or a better solution? With it being 100 degrees right now, any helpful solution would be appreciated!

He said it was the compressor. How difficult is it to install? Do you know anything about the updated compressor on the 01 Rodeo?

Is it a bad compressor or the compressor clutch, if your compressor has gone bad you can get one from partstrain.com and install it your self, juts make sure you order the O rings for the high and low pressure hose hosing to the compressor. The average price to the compressor is $350.00 and after you have installed the compressor just have the system serviced from a A/C repair shop. There going to vacuum all the moisture out and then recharge the system. This should keep your cost under $500.00. Good luck and hope this helps. http://www.partstrain.com/

The link i gave you sells compressor for your rodeo. The comprssor is only held on by two bolts,  Remove the serpintine belt, diconnect the compressor clutch wire harness, disconnect the high and low A/C lines, (Make sure you drain the system before disconnecting the lines from the compressor) Remove the two bolts holding the compressor to the compressor mount and remove the compressor. to install just do in revers and add lock tight to the two bolts holding the compressor down. Make sure you have new O ring gasket for the a/c hose and tighten everything back up and double check your work. This would also be a good time to replace the A/C Air Dryer (Accumilator)  also since you has a compressor failure, all the dirt and broken parts would have made there way there. After all is done, have the system vacuumed out and recharged at a a/c shop. This should still be under $500.00 parts and recharge cost. Keep me posted if you have any other questions, be glad to help keep you cost down.

I have a 95 isuzu holden rodeo. My a/c compressor is not getting power to it? I have changed the fuses and relays.Compressor works and blows cold air if i hard wire it? What could be my problem?

there are several switches that control the compressor
one is a low pressure switch that will stop the compressor if there is a gas leak
the next is a high pressure switch that will stop the compressor if the condenser fan stops or there is a blockage in the line after the compressor which results in too higher a pressure that will destroy the compressor
next there is a relay controlled by the thermostat that controls the compressor to cycle it when cabin temperature is reached
I suggest that you have an accredited ac specialist shop diagnose the problem as it can get costly

The compressor in my 2006 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 4x4 turns on and off while parked. It blows very cold air while driving, but blows hot and cold air while parked. To hot to sit in the truck while...

the ac system needs air through the condenser ( radiator bit in front of the radiator) to operate correctly. IT it has no air then the compressed gas is to hot and will not turn to liquid and so the high pressure switch turns of the ac compressor. No problem when you are moving as road speed provides the air flow. Get an electric fan and have it installed before the condenser and connect it to the ac compressor circuit so that it is running all the time you have the ac compressor running. not the local mechanic. When dealing with ac systems the best people to take it to is an accredited ac specialist shop

Can we fix the heater and defrost in a 2001 Isuzu Rodeo LS without the AC compressor

You may be able to remove compressor and purchase a pulley with an arm that atttaches to the block in place of compressor. Or remove compressor altogether and install a shorter serpentine belt. Hope this has been of some help.

I have a 2001 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 HD. A mechanic worked on it recently to fix electrical problems with the power window. Before the mechanic worked on the truck the Air Conditioner worked great. Now...

What engine does your 2500 HD have? Is it a 6.6 diesel, a 6.0 gas, or an 8.1 gas engine? If it's a gas engine, the A/C compressor belt may have snapped (common). The gas engines used a separate, smaller belt to drive the compressor, while the larger serpentine belt runs the rest of the accessories. Diesel engines only have one belt that runs all accessories, including the A/C compressor.

What causes the ac on a 1996 Isuzu Rodeo to turn on occasionally?

If the compressor is engaging when it should not be, the problem could be the compressor clutch or a faulty relay.
The compressor normally runs in defrost as well as ac.
