1998 Ford Contour sport/2.5 engine overdrive light flashes. The transmission shifts hard into second gear if I don't release the gas pedal. It also doesn't switch into overdrive. I've already replaced the...

I had a similar problem with mu 2000 Contour. It turned out to be a clogged transmission fluid cooler (it's built into the radiator.) When the transmission got hot, the fluid would overheat and not flow properly, causing shifting problems and etc. Check the hoses to the cooler, and if they look okay, pull them off (make sure you note which one goes to which connection!) and try to blow through the cooler. If there's any restriction, it's done for. In my case, I replaced the entire radiator, but if it turns out to be this problem on your car, you might try finding an external cooler to replace the stock one with.
Good luck!

1998 Ford Contour, Zetec 4 cylinder engine. There was a service bulletin for harsh downshift that said 'Replace the servo and update the computer'. How do I do that?

The servo is inside the transaxel, the update is a reflash of the PCM = you will have to have a Ford dealer's shop do this.
If you read this TSB from a source like Alldata or other service, you would be wise to contact a Ford Dealer to inquire if the part is still availble and if the update is still valid. Some of the bullitens have been canceled on older vehicles.

How do i change the radiator cooling fan fuse in a 1998 ford contour? Fuse number * 2 60 amp on a 2.0 engine?

Well if you found it, you should be able to replace it, some of these big fuses "bolt in" down on the sides. If it blew, you better find out why (usually the motor is bad) before you replace it.

I am stuck with a 98 contour with wiring problems that the previouus owner obviously fixed to sell. It now breaks down and currently blows the 20 amp (#10) fuse- the EEC. Is a replacement harness...

I sure wouldn't throw the whole care away because a fuse was blowing.
I also would not replace an entire wiring harness because a fuse was blowing.

Electrical diagnosis can be expesive because it usually involves partial disassembly of the vehicle to acess connectors and components for testing. A really good electrical technician should have a pretty good idea of where the problem is within an hour.

My recommendation is to take it to a reputable shop (ask around first-some shops don't like to mess with electrical repairs but they can usually refer you to one that does.

You will probably have to authorize 1 hour of diagnostic time up front. If they need more time than that, make them tell you what they have done so far, whath they have found, what they need to do to continue and why do they need to do it. (Make them justify their time)

Transmission shifts hard after driving for 15 to 20 miles.

There is a possibility the transmission is overheating, probably due to clogged cooling lines in the radiator. The transmission fluid is pumped through hoses to the radiator where it goes through cooling lines built into the radiator for this purpose. If the flow of transmission fluid through these lines is restricted, the transmission will overheat, and rough/hard shifting will result. Unless you are experienced at this sort of thing, I would recommend you take the car to a good shop to get this checked out. At the very least, you will have to have the radiator replaced. At worst, you might have to replace or rebuild the transmission.

Blown Fuses - Dead 1998 Ford Escort

Try changing the fuel filter first we always change them when servicing the fuel pump anyway, its easy and cheap,if that doesnt solve the problem you will have to perform an amperage draw test on the fuel pump to insure your not replacing a good pump. Check the fuel pump relay and inertia switch and wiring also.Although possible its unlikley the fuel pump would blow a fuse consistantly without displaying any driveability problems. There may also be another component running off the fuel pump fuse have your mechanic pull a wiring diagram to find out. Good hunting keep me informed
